Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is a public state university at Summer Hill, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. It was established on 22 July 1970 by The Himachal Pradesh University Act, 1970 by the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, before the emergence of Himachal Pradesh as a full state of India.

In addition to the major national parties, other national and regional parties such as Shiromani Akali Dal, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal Secular, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Kerala Congress, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Indian Union Muslim League, AIMIM, and the Nationalist Congress Party are all dominated by families, mostly those of the party founders.

Shanta Kumar is an Indian politician who was the 3rd Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and a Union Minister in the Government of India. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was elected to the 9th Lok Sabha from Kangra constituency in 1989. He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 1998, 1999 and 2014 from the same constituency. He has written a number of books. He is the first and only non-Rajput who has served as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.

Thakur was the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj from 2009 to 2012. He is serving as Leader of opposition in current legislative assembly of the state.He is elected to Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Seraj Assembly constituency of Mandi district. He won his first election in the year 1998 from now delimited constituency of Chachiot (Seraj).

Churah is one of the 68 constituencies of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha. This constituency is reserved for the candidates to Scheduled castes. It came into existence for the second time in 2008, following the delimitation of the Legislative Assembly constituencies and covers most of the area covered by the erstwhile Rajnagar constituency.

Yadvinder Goma is an Indian politician, Social worker and incumbent Member of Legislative Assembly from Jaisinghpur and cabinet minister in Government of Himachal Pradesh, India. In 2022, he won from Ravi Dhiman with a margin of 2,696 votes in Legislative Assembly elections. He has B.Tech. degree in mechanical engineering from Himachal Pradesh University and MBA degree. He got married in 2015. Yadvinder Goma belongs to the Koli caste of Himachal Pradesh.

Guler was one of the 68 assembly constituencies of Himachal Pradesh a northern Indian state. Guler was part of Kangra Lok Sabha constituency. Later, parts of it merged into Jawali.
