Chandler Regis Worthy (born September 15, 1993) is an American professional football wide receiver for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2015, and has also been a member of the New York Jets. [1] He played college football at Troy. Worthy has also been a member of the New York Jets and Toronto Argonauts.
After going undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft Worthy signed with the Houston Texans. Worthy played in three games for the Texans in 2015, catching three passes for 14 yards. He also returned three punts for a total of nine yards, and had one kickoff return for 27 yards.
Worthy signed a reserve/future contract with the New York Jets on January 12, 2016. [2] On September 3, 2016, he was released by the Jets as part of final roster cuts. [3]
On February 2, 2017, Worthy and the Toronto Argonauts agreed to a contract. [4] He dressed in his first CFL game on June 25, 2017, against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats where he returned five punts for 20 yards and had five kickoff returns for 60 yards. [5] After playing in three games, he was moved to the injured list, where he remained until the September 16, 2017, when he recorded his first career CFL reception, for five yards, against the Edmonton Eskimos. However, he was moved to the practice roster on September 20, 2017, and then outright released on October 20, 2017. [6]
Worthy re-signed with the Argonauts on January 24, 2018, but was released during training camp on June 3, 2018. [7] He re-signed with the Argonauts on October 10, 2018, but spent the rest of the year on the practice roster and was re-signed after the conclusion of the season. [7]
In 2019, he began the season on the injured list and practice roster before playing in the July 25, 2019, game against Edmonton. [8] He went back to the practice roster and then played again on October 18, 2019, where he had a career-high nine catches for 93 yards and one touchdown, which was the first of his CFL career, in a game against the Montreal Alouettes. [9] For the season, he played in three games where he had a total of 12 receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
Worthy re-signed with the Argonauts on December 2, 2019, but did not play in 2020 due to the cancellation of the 2020 CFL season. [8] He began the 2021 season on the practice roster and was released on August 10, 2021. [10] He re-signed with the Argonauts on September 1, 2021, to a practice roster agreement. [10] He played in nine regular season games where he had 16 receptions for 203 yards and two touchdowns. He spent part of 2022 training camp with the team, but was released after the first pre-season game on May 29, 2022. [11]
Two days after being released by the Argos, Worthy signed with the Montreal Alouettes. [12] He played in 15 regular season games where he had 47 punt returns for 547 yards, 51 kickoff returns for 1,220 yards and two touchdowns, and three missed field goal returns for 57 yards. [13] At the end of the 2022 season, he was named the East Division's nominee for the CFL's Most Outstanding Special Teams Player and was named an East Division All-Star. [14] [15]
Chad Owens Sr. is a former professional Canadian football wide receiver and kick returner. He was most recently a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Owens played college football at Hawaii. He spent six seasons playing for the Toronto Argonauts, and has also been a member of the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders.
DeVier Stewart Posey is an American former professional gridiron football wide receiver. He most recently played for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was selected by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played college football at Ohio State. He was also a member of the New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Toronto Argonauts, Baltimore Ravens, Montreal Alouettes, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Drew Willy is an American former professional Canadian football quarterback. He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He played college football at Buffalo. Willy has also been a member of the Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Locomotives, New York Jets, San Diego Chargers, and most notably the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Toronto Argonauts, and Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Solomon H. Green III is a former American football wide receiver. He was signed by the Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes through the negotiation list process in 2007 and played with the Alouettes for 10 seasons before spending the next three seasons with the Toronto Argonauts. Green was previously a member of the New York Jets (NFL). Green played college football at South Florida.
McLeod John Baltazar Bethel-Thompson is an American professional football quarterback for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was a member of the Toronto Argonauts, winning two Grey Cup championships with the team: one as a back-up quarterback in 2017, another as the team's starter in 2022. He played college football at UCLA and Sacramento State. He is the grandson of the 1948 Olympic shot put champion Wilbur 'Moose' Thompson. Bethel-Thompson is a journeyman quarterback having been a member of five different NFL teams, three CFL teams, and one team in the Arena Football League (AFL), United Football League (UFL), and United States Football League (USFL).
Jermaine Gabriel is a former professional Canadian football defensive back and is currently the defensive backs coach for the Saint Mary's Huskies of U Sports. He played for eight seasons with three teams in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and won a Grey Cup championship with the Toronto Argonauts in 2017.
Mario Alford is an American professional football wide receiver for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers, earning first-team All-American honors in 2014.
