In early 2008, Lahariya joined the World Health Organization in India, where - in the years which followed - he coordinated the organization's work on the new vaccines introduced in the country. [3] [4]

Awards and recognitions

In the year 2012, he received Indian Council of Medical Research’s Dr B.C. Srivastava Foundation Award for his work on translating community-based health research into public policy interventions. [5]

In October 2020, in a study conducted by Stanford University and published in the reputed PLoS Biology, Lahariya was listed amongst the top 2% of researchers globally, in the fields of pediatrics and public health. [6] He was, once again, included in the list of Top 2% researcher globally, in 2021. [7]

Books and writing

Lahariya is the author of the book Till We Win: India's Fight Against The COVID-19 Pandemic , co-authored with Randeep Guleria of AIIMS, New Delhi and Gagandeep Kang of Christian Medical College, Vellore. [8]

In 2009-10, Lahariya was the guest editor (along with Dr Vinod Kumar Paul, then Professor of pediatrics at AIIMS, New Delhi and now Member of NITI Aayog, Govt. of India) of a special series on child survival in India. [9] [10] [11] This series was published in the Indian Journal of Pediatrics and had contributions from leading Indian health experts including Prema Ramachandran, Deoki Nandan, Prasanna K. Hota, and Shiv Lal. Lahariya who had co-authored a few articles, including one with Dr Vinod Kumar Paul of NITI Aayog. [12]

Yaws is a tropical infection of the skin, bones, and joints caused by the spirochete bacterium Treponema pallidum pertenue. He is a former Professor and Head of Department of Gastroenterology and Human Nutrition Unit at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi (AIIMS) and a former Director and Senior Consultant of Hepatology and Gastroenterology at Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute for Liver, Renal and Digestive Diseases, New Delhi. He is a recipient of several awards including Sasakawa WHO Health Prize and Jubilee Medal of the RAMS. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1986, for his contributions to medicine.

Gagandeep Kang FRS is an Indian microbiologist and virologist who has been leading the work on enteric diseases, diarrheal infections and disease surveillance at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation since 2023.

Ravinder Goswami is an Indian endocrinologist and professor at the department of endocrinology and metabolism at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi. Known for his research on vitamin D deficiency, Goswami is an elected fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India and Indian Academy of Sciences. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards for his contributions to Medical Sciences in 2008.

Deepak Gaur was an Indian molecular biologist, and a professor at the School of Biotechnology of Jawaharlal Nehru University. Known for his studies on Plasmodium falciparum, Gaur is a recipient of the N-Bios Prize. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to medical sciences in 2017.

Naval Kishore Vikram is an Indian physician, diabetologist and a professor at the department of medicine of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi. He is known for his studies in the field of metabolic disorders with special emphasis on insulin resistance and obesity and his work assisted in profiling the Indian population with regard to imbalanced dietary practices and cardiovascular risk factors. He was a member of the group which proposed guidelines for obesity management, metabolic syndrome, and dietary controls for Asian Indians. His studies have been documented by way of a number of articles and ResearchGate, an online repository of scientific articles has listed 125 of them.

Co-written by Chandrakant Lahariya, Randeep Guleria, and Gagandeep Kang, this book managed to garner significant critical attention from book reviewers and reputed media across the country.

Deepak Agrawal born 10 November 1970, is a professor neurosurgery at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi is one of the top 10 surgeons in the neurosurgery. During his stint as chairman computerization, he reformed the ICT processes at AIIMS, New Delhi and also helped patients in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi to get a Unique Health Identification (UHID), which documents their journey in the hospital. He also pioneered stem cell research in spinal cord injury in India and set up the Stem Cell translational research in Neuroscience LAB (SCRTN) at AIIMS, New Delhi.
