Charkhi Dadri District is one of the 22 districts of Haryana state in north west India near Rajasthan border, but not sharing border with Rajasthan. Created on 1 December 2016, the district headquarters is the city of Charkhi Dadri. [1]
During British raj, Charkhi Dadri was a princely state with an area of 575sq miles and revenue of Rs 103,000 annually. In Indian Rebellion of 1857, the Nawab of Dadri, Bahadur Jung Khan who had given token allegiance to mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, surrendered to British and tried by military court martial in Delhi on 27 November 1857. He was removed to Lahore. Dadri was awarded to Raja Swarup Singh of Jind State of the Phulkian dynasty for his services to British East India Company in the 1857 war.
In May 1874, fifty villages revolted against his descendant Raja Raghubir Singh Jind but the rebellion was crushed with force. Three principal villages which took part in the rebellion, Charkhi, Mankawas and Jhojhu, were burned down as a result.
Previously in Bhiwani district, Charkhi Dadri became part of the new Charkhi Dadri district in 2016. The Government of Haryana state officially notified Charkhi Dadri as 22nd district of Haryana on 16 November 2016. [2] [3] It was established on 1 December 2016.
As of December 2018, it has 2 sub-divisions (Charkhi Dadri and Badhra), 2 tehsils (Charkhi Dadri and Badhra) and one sub-tehsil (Baund Kalan). [2] [1]
As of the 2011 census, the district had a population of 502,276 of which 265,949 were male and 236,327 were female. [5] 11.22% of the population lived in urban areas. Scheduled Castes were 89,426 (17.80%) of the district's population. [6]
At the time of the 2011 census, 90.03% of the population spoke Haryanvi and 8.72% Hindi as their first language. [7]
Lieutenant KIRAN SHEORAN has created a History to be the FIRST LADY ARMY COMMISSIONED OFFICER of District Charkhi Dadri. Grand daughter of Chaudhary DhariRam Sheoran from Village Dhanasri,got Commissioned into the Indian Army in 2017. Her Father Shamsher Singh Sheoran has also served the Nation while serving in the Indian Air Force as Senior Non Commissioned Officer. Lieutenant KIRAN has also been decorated with Multiple Medals and Awards as an Equestrian, Renowned SWIMMER and a Triathlete during her School, college and University time.
On 12 November 1996, Saudia Flight 763, a Boeing 747 en route from Delhi, India, to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan Airlines Flight 1907, an Ilyushin Il-76 en route from Chimkent, Kazakhstan, to Delhi. The crash killed all 349 people on board both planes, making it the world's deadliest mid-air collision and the deadliest aviation accident ever in India.

The Trans-Haryana Expressway or the Ambala–Narnaul Expressway (NH-152D) is a 227-km long, 6-lane wide greenfield access-controlled expressway, connecting the cities of Ambala and Narnaul in the state of Haryana. The expressway connects Gangheri village in Kurukshetra district with Surana village on Narnaul Bypass (NH-148B) in Mahendragarh district. It passes via Kaul, Pundri, Assandh, Dhatrath, Kalanaur, Charkhi Dadri and Kanina. It will reduce the distance from Chandigarh to Delhi, Narnaul, and Jaipur, thus decongesting NH-44 and NH-48.

Before 2016, it was part of Bhiwani district, but after 2016 Charkhi Dadri became a new district, Rudrol became part of Charkhi Dadri. It is situated 24.9 km away from district headquarter, Charkhi Dadri, and 53.3 km. away from Bhiwani. As of 2009, Rudrol is also a gram panchayat.
