Charles Allen (born March 3, 1977) is a Canadian track and field athlete, specializing in hurdling and sprinting.

Born in Georgetown, Guyana, Allen emigrated to Canada, first to Brampton where he attended Turner Fenton Secondary School, and then to Malton where he went to Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School.

Allen represented Canada at the 1996 World Junior Championships in Athletics in the 100 and 200 metres. Representing the Clemson Tigers track and field team, Allen won the 1999 4 × 400 meter relay at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. [1]

He competed for Guyana in the 110 metres hurdles at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and still holds the Guyanese record in that event. By the time of the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Allen was again representing Canada.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics, Allen made the finals in the 110 m hurdles after setting a new personal best time in each of the qualifying rounds. [2] He finished a respectable sixth, but in a slower time than he had hoped. He was also captain of Canada's 4 × 100 m relay team, but the team failed to pass the qualifying stages. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, however, Allen won a bronze medal with the Canadian relay team.

Carlton Chambers is a retired sprint athlete from Canada, and a winner of gold medal in 4 × 100 m relay at the 1996 Summer Olympics. He ran in the preliminary heats, however a groin injury prevented him from running in the final race which was won by Robert Esmie, Glenroy Gilbert, Bruny Surin, and Donovan Bailey. He had a personal best of 10.19 in the 100 metres.

She was a four-time All-American and a five-time Big West Conference champion in two years of competition at the University of Idaho and holds school records in the sprints, hurdles, jumps, multi-events and relays at both Idaho and the University of New Mexico. She also holds two Big West records in the 100m hurdles. She is currently an assistant track and field coach at Washington State University.

Oluwatobiloba Ayomide "Tobi" Amusan is a Nigerian track and field athlete who specialises in the 100 metres hurdles and also competes as a sprinter. Amusan is the current world record holder in the 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.12 seconds which she set at the 2022 women's 100 metres hurdles semi-final in Eugene, Oregon. She is the current Commonwealth and African champion in the 100 m hurdles, as well as the meet record holder in those two competitions. Amusan became the first ever Nigerian world champion and world record holder in an athletics event when she won the 2022 World Championships 100 m hurdles gold medal, setting the current world record of 12.12 seconds (+0.9 m/s) in the semi-final, followed up by a 12.06 seconds (+2.5 m/s) in the final. She won back-to-back Commonwealth and African titles in 2018 and 2022 in the 100 m hurdles and is also a two-time African Games champion. The 1997 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships was organised by USA Track & Field and held from June 20 to 24 at the IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The four-day competition served as the national championships in track and field for the United States and also the trials for the 1997 World Championships in Athletics in Athens, Greece.

Shiann Salmon is a Jamaican track and field athlete who specializes in the 400 metres hurdles and 400 metres. She represented Jamaica at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, competing in women's 400 metres hurdles.

Alastair Chalmers is a British track and field hurdler who specialises in the 400 metres hurdles. He won Guernsey's first-ever Commonwealth Games track and field medal when he took bronze at the 2022 edition and he is a five-time British 400m hurdles champion.

Omotade Ojora is an athlete who represents Great Britain and Northern Ireland at hurdling. He has won the 110 metres hurdles events at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 British Athletics Championships. He has competed in US college athletics for USC Trojans, achieving National Collegiate Athletic Association All-American honours three times.
