Charles Emmett Yeater [1] (April 24,1861 – July 20,1943 [2] ) of Sedalia,Missouri was acting Governor-General of the Philippines from March 5,1921 to October 14,1921.
From 1901 to 1935,the governor-general was the chief political executive of the Philippines,when the country was governed by the United States of America.
The Charles E. Yeater Learning Center [3] at State Fair Community College in Sedalia is named for him.
He served as Democratic member of the Missouri Senate in 1892,and was a supporter of the legislation to move the Missouri State Capital from Jefferson City to Sedalia,which failed in the popular vote. [4]
He is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery,Sedalia,Missouri.

The Missouri Centennial half dollar is a commemorative fifty-cent piece struck by the United States Mint in 1921. It was designed by Robert Ingersoll Aitken. The US state of Missouri wanted a commemorative coin to mark its centennial that year. Legislation for such a coin passed through Congress without opposition and was signed by President Warren G. Harding on his inauguration day,March 4,1921. The federal Commission of Fine Arts hired Aitken to design the coin,which depicted Daniel Boone on both sides. The reverse design,showing Boone with a Native American,has been interpreted as symbolizing the displacement of the Indians by white settlers.

The capture of Sedalia occurred during the American Civil War when a Confederate force captured the Union garrison of Sedalia,Missouri,on October 15,1864. Confederate Major General Sterling Price,who was a former Governor of Missouri and had commanded the Missouri State Guard in the early days of the war,had launched an invasion into the state of Missouri on August 29. He hoped to distract the Union from more important areas and cause a popular uprising against Union control of the state. Price had to abandon his goal of capturing St. Louis after a bloody repulse at the Battle of Fort Davidson and moved into the pro-Confederate region of Little Dixie in central Missouri.
