Chen Xinyi (born January 2, 1998) is a Chinese competitive swimmer, swimming freestyle, butterfly and individual medley.

Career

At the 2014 Asian Games, she won gold medals in the 50 metre freestyle, [2] 100 metre butterfly [3] and 4 × 100 m freestyle relay.

Failed doping test

While swimming for the Chinese national team at the 2016 Summer Olympics, Xinyi tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide, a banned substance. [4] [5] [6] Following this, she was suspended from competition in the 2016 Summer Olympics by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. [7] The International Swimming Federation Doping Panel decided to impose on her a period of two years’ ineligibility, from August 11, 2016 to August 10, 2018 for her first anti-doping rule violation. [8]

Mads Glæsner is a Danish swimmer. He participated at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 400 metre freestyle and the 1500 metre freestyle disciplines. His swimming club is Vallensbæk-VAT but he trains at the National Training Center in Copenhagen.

Ye Shiwen is a Chinese swimmer. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she won gold medals in the 400 metres and 200 metres individual medley, breaking the world record in the 400 m event and the Olympic record in the 200 m event.

China was alleged to have conducted a state-sanctioned doping operation in the 1980s and 1990s by former General Administration of Sport physician Xue Yinxian. The World Anti-Doping Agency investigated these allegations and found no evidence to corroborate them. Other allegations of doping have focused on swimmers and track and field athletes, such as those taught by Ma Junren. In the Olympics, China has been stripped of a total of three gold medals for doping; all were weightlifters competing in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Eleven Chinese athletes were stripped of medals for doping at the 1994 Asian Games.

Artur Valeryevich Dilman is a Kazakhstani swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. He represented his nation Kazakhstan at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has won a career total of six medals in a major international competition, spanning both the indoor and outdoor Asian Games. Dilman also spent his college sports career in the United States as a member of the Drury Panthers swimming and diving team under head coach Brian Reynolds, while pursuing his sports management studies at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri.

The swimming competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo were due to take place from 25 July to 6 August 2020 at the Olympic Aquatics Centre. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the games were postponed to 2021. However, their official name remained 2020 Summer Olympics with swimming events set for 24 July–1 August 2021 and marathon swimming set for 4–5 August 2021.

Ning Zetao is a Chinese former competitive swimmer. Specializing in the freestyle, he won a gold medal in the 100 metre freestyle at the 2015 World Championships. At the 2014 Asian Games, he won gold medals in the 50 metre freestyle, 4 × 100 metre medley relay, 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay, and 100 metre freestyle, breaking the Asian records in the latter two events. Ning also swam for China at the 2016 Summer Olympics, but failed to proceed to any final at the meet.

The women's 100 metre butterfly event at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place on 6–7 August at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium.

She currently holds the record for most Olympic medals for a Chinese athlete. In 2023, she was named as the most valuable player in the women's division, in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Gabriel da Silva Santos is a Brazilian swimmer. He competed in the men's 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, finishing 5th.

Shayna Jack is an Australian swimmer. She won gold medals in Women's 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay and Women's 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
