Cheney is an unincorporated community in Douglas County, in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. [1] The community was located on Missouri Route C approximately one mile north of Evans on Missouri Route 14. [2]

Douglas County is a county located in the south-central portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,684. The county seat and only incorporated community is Ava. The county was officially organized on October 19, 1857, and is named after U.S. Senator Stephen A. Douglas (D-Illinois) and later Democratic presidential candidate.

History

A post office called Cheney was established in 1898, and remained in operation until 1934. [3] The community has the name of A. B. Cheney, a pioneer citizen. [4]

Merritt is an unincorporated community in southwestern Douglas County, Missouri. Merritt is located west of Goodhope on Missouri Route T in the Little Beaver Creek valley.

Omba is an historic town in eastern Douglas County, Missouri. The GNIS classifies it as a populated place. The townsite is located along State Route AA between Missouri Route 181 and the North Fork River.

Redbank is an unincorporated community in western Douglas County, Missouri. Redbank is located on Missouri State Route O at its junction with Route NN to the west. The community of Arden is to the north and Goodhope is to the south along Route O and Merritt lies to the southwest along Route T.

Richville is an unincorporated community in southeastern Douglas County, Missouri. Richville is located at the intersection of Missouri State Route 14 and State route W and a short distance west of the intersection of Route 14 and Missouri State Route 181. The site is located on a high ridge at an elevation of 1,191 ft (363 m). Sauls Knob at 1,339 ft (408 m) lies just to the southeast on the south side of Route 14.

Roosevelt is an unincorporated community in extreme southeastern Douglas County, Missouri. Roosevelt lies on the east bank of Spring Creek on County road 289 just northeast of the junction of Missouri State Route 14 and Missouri State Route 181 within the Mark Twain National Forest.

Roy is an unincorporated community in southwestern Douglas County, Missouri. Roy is located on Missouri Route 76 south of the Goodhope junction on Missouri Route T. The village site is at an elevation of 1,263 ft (385 m) about 1.5 mile west of the Beaver Creek valley.

Sweden is an unincorporated community in Douglas County, Missouri. Sweden lies in the south-central part of the county. The former Sweden store is located on Missouri Route 14 one half mile east of the intersection of Route 14 and State Route P. Goodhope, Missouri is an unincorporated community in southwestern Douglas County, Missouri. The community lies on the south side of the intersection of Missouri State Routes T and O and just west of the intersection of Route T with Missouri Route 76.

Olga is an unincorporated community in the southwest corner of Webster County, in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. Olga is located on Missouri Route Z, approximately five miles northwest of Dogwood in northwest Douglas County. Finley Creek flows just north of the community.
