Gentryville is an unincorporated community in Douglas County, Missouri, United States.It is located approximately twenty-one miles southeast of Ava and twenty-two miles south of Mountain Grove at the intersection of Route 14 and Route 95. It consists of a small general store, an automotive repair shop, and a few churches. Gentryville cemetery and church are located about one-quarter mile north on Route 95.

Douglas County is a county located in the south-central portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,684. The county seat and only incorporated community is Ava. The county was officially organized on October 19, 1857, and is named after U.S. Senator Stephen A. Douglas (D-Illinois) and later Democratic presidential candidate.

Fox Creek is a south flowing stream in Douglas and Wright counties of the southern Missouri Ozarks. It is a tributary to Bryant Creek. The stream source is about three quarters of a mile east of Missouri Route C just southeast of the town of Norwood in southern Wright County. The stream flows in a meandering southerly direction past Denlow on Missouri Route 76; east of Champion; just west of Gentryville on Missouri Route 14; and Bertha to its confluence with Bryant Creek just south of Bertha. The elevation of the confluence is 722 ft (220 m).

Bryant Creek has headwaters just south of Lead Hill and Cedar Gap in southwestern Wright County and flows in a southeasterly direction through Douglas County east of Ava and joins the North Fork River in Ozark County just north of Tecumseh. Brushyknob is an unincorporated community in Douglas County, Missouri, United States. The community is located on Route 76 about fourteen miles east of Ava. The old townsite is located along Route 76 on Tarbutton Creek about 1.5 miles east of Bryant Creek at an elevation of 920 feet. The Brushyknob church and cemetery is on a ridge flat about 3500 feet to the south-southeast and some 200 feet higher in elevation. The historic Brushyknob school is 850 feet south of the church.
Trail is an unincorporated community in northern Ozark County, Missouri. It is located about twenty-two miles northeast of Gainesville. Access is from Missouri Route 14 in Douglas County south via route AC. The village site is located adjacent to Trail Creek. Trail Creek flows into Bryant Creek about one mile to the southwest. The Trail cemetery lies about a mile to the northeast along Trail Creek.
Rome is an unincorporated community in southern Douglas County, Missouri, United States. It is located on Beaver Creek, approximately 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Ava on a county road one-half mile off the end of Route A and 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Smallett. Arno lies on Beaver Creek, about 7 miles (11 km) north and Brownbranch in Taney County lies on Beaver Creek, 4.6 miles (7.4 km) to the southwest.
Vera Cruz is an unincorporated community in central Douglas County, Missouri, United States. It is located on Bryant Creek, approximately 9 miles (14 km) east of Ava, at the terminus of Route AB.
Dogwood is an unincorporated community in northwestern Douglas County, Missouri, United States. It is located on Missouri Route 14, approximately 15.5 miles (24.9 km) northwest of Ava and 8.5 miles (13.7 km) southwest of Seymour. The old store building sits at the intersection of Route 14 with route BB and the Dogwood cemetery is 1,300 feet (400 m) to the west at the intersection of routes 14 and Z.

Hunter Creek is a stream in Douglas County, Missouri. It is a tributary of Bryant Creek. Hunter Creek headwaters arise north of Ava along the south of a ridge and Missouri Route 76. The stream flows southeast along State Route FF and is further fed by Turkey Creek from the north, Wildcat Creek from the southwest and the springwaters of the rainbow trout hatchery at Crystal Springs. The stream flows on to the east gaining the tributaries of Whites Creek and Dicky Creek before joining Bryant Creek at Vera Cruz. The community of Larissa was located along Hunter Creek near Crystal Springs.

It flows south through the west part of the city then turns southwest to west. The stream passes under routes 14 and 5 within west Ava. The confluence with Cowskin Creek is just east of Arno about four miles west-southwest of Ava.
