Delhi, officially the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, is a city and a union territory of India containing New Delhi, the capital of India. Straddling the Yamuna river, primarily its western or right bank, Delhi shares borders with the state of Uttar Pradesh in the east and with the state of Haryana in the remaining directions. The NCT covers an area of 1,484 square kilometres (573 sq mi). According to the 2011 census, Delhi's city proper population was over 11 million, while the NCT's population was about 16.8 million. Delhi's urban agglomeration, which includes the satellite cities Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Noida in an area known as the National Capital Region (NCR), has an estimated population of over 28 million, making it the largest metropolitan area in India and the second-largest in the world.
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is a multi-sports stadium located in New Delhi, India. It is named after the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Primarily a venue for football and athletics, it is an all-seated 60,254 capacity stadium, designed and constructed to meet the international standards for stadiums set by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). It is the fourth largest stadium in India, 27th largest stadium in Asia and the 103rd largest stadium in the world, in terms of seating capacity.
Football at the 1982 Asian Games was held in New Delhi, India from 20 November to 3 December 1982. In this tournament, 16 teams played in the men's competition.
Sushil Kumar Solanki is a former Indian wrestler. He carried the Indian flag at the opening ceremony of 2012 London Olympics. His 2008 Olympic medal was second for India in wrestling, and the first since Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav's bronze medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics. In July 2009, he received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna – India's highest honour for sportspersons. On 3 October 2010, Kumar handed the Queen's Baton to Prince Charles in the Queen's Baton Relay for the 2010 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony. Sushil won the gold medal in the 74 kg division at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Hindustan Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in New Delhi. Founded in 1948, the club usually participated in the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of Indian football league system. They currently participate in the Delhi Premier League and use Ambedkar Stadium as home ground, in addition to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for selected matches.
Satpal Singh, also known as Guru Satpal, is a wrestling coach and former wrestler of India. He was a Gold Medalist in 1982 Asian Games and a Bronze medalist in 1974 Asian Games. Today he is better known as the coach of Olympic medal winners Sushil Kumar and Ravi Kumar Dahiya.

The Thyagaraj Sport Complex is a sports stadium in New Delhi, India. It is owned by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi and was built at the cost of ₹300 crore (US$38 million). It was designed by leading architects PTM of Australia and Kapoor & Associates of Delhi. The venue was built for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and was named after the Telugu composer Tyagaraja.

Sakshi Malik is an Indian freestyle wrestler. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she won the bronze medal in the 58 kg category, becoming the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics. Sudeva Delhi Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Delhi, that competes in I-League, the second tier of Indian football league system. Founded as Sudeva Moonlight FC in 2014, the club is affiliated with Football Delhi, and also participate in Delhi Premier League. Sudeva joined I-League in the 2020–21 season and became the first club from the capital to do so.
Sumit Malik is a freestyle wrestler from India who competes in 125 kg category. He was gold medallist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He has also been silver medalist at both the Asian Wrestling Championships and the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in 2017.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya, also known as Ravi Kumar or Ravi Dahiya, is an Indian freestyle wrestler who won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 57 kg category. Dahiya is also a bronze medallist from 2019 World Wrestling Championships and a three-time Asian champion. In the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, he won the gold medal in the men's 57kg freestyle wrestling category at Birmingham, England.
The 2020–21 I-League was the 14th season of the I-League, one of the top tier Indian professional football leagues, since its establishment in 2007. The tournament was hosted in bio-secure bubble across four venues in Kolkata due to COVID-19 pandemic situation in India.
Pawan Kumar Joshi is an Indian professional footballer, who plays as a right back for Sudeva FC in the I-League and has represented Delhi in Santosh Trophy.
Shubho Paul is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward for I-League club Sudeva Delhi and the Indian U17 national team. He was part of the Bayern Munich U19 World Squad.
