Chitnahalli Guru Dutt is an Indian actor primarily concentrating on Kannada films alongside a few Tamil films. He is the son of Chi. Udaya Shankar.

Career

He made his debut along with Shivrajkumar in the Kannada film Anand (1986). He was launched in Tamil by K. Balachander with Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal (1989). His major Tamil appearance in the thriller film Kalaignan (1993) opposite Kamal Haasan as the psychopath doctor. He has acted in about 100 films directed 4 and produced 3.

Chi Guru Dutt has also directed Aryan starring Shivarajkumar, Ramya and Sarath Babu [1] [2] [3]

Udayashankar received four Karnataka State Film Award for Best Dialogue and two Karnataka State Film Award for Best Screenplay. He was the son of lyricist Chi. Sadashivaiah. His son Chi. Belli Kalungura is a 1992 Indian Kannada language film directed by K. V. Raju, starring Sunil and Malashri. The supporting cast features Tara, Chi. Shankar Guru is a 1978 Indian Kannada-language action thriller film directed by V. Somashekhar, written by Chi. Udayashankar and produced by Parvathamma Rajkumar under the banner of Dakshayini Combines. It stars Rajkumar in the lead role alongside Jayamala, Padmapriya, Kanchana, Balakrishna, Vajramuni, Thoogudeepa Srinivas and Uma Shivakumar in supporting roles. Rajkumar appears in a triple role in the film — as a father and his two sons separated in childhood.

Ananda Jyothi is a 1993 Indian Kannada-language romantic drama film directed by Chi. Datta Raj and based on the novel Maangalya Maale by Kakolu Saroja Rao. The film's music was composed by Upendra Kumar.
