Anand is a 1986 Indian Kannada-language film directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. [1] It stars Shiva Rajkumar and Sudha Rani with both making their debuts. The film went on to be a huge success running for 38 weeks. [2]

Shiva Rajkumar is introduced as an actor and a dancer in this film. This was his first of the three consecutive hits at the box-office on debut which gave him the title Hat-trick Hero. He once said, "I can never forget Anand, my first film which made me an actor. Singeetam was just explaining the scene to us and was telling this is what the work I expect from you people. He was bringing out such better performance from all of us."

Release

Anand alongside Ratha Sapthami (1986) and Manamecchida Hudugi (1987), became commercially successful, earned Shivarajkumar the nickname of Hat-trick Hero, coined by the media and his fans. [4]

M. S. Rajashekar was an Indian Kannada film director based in Bangalore. He made his directorial debut with Dhruva Thare starring Rajkumar which earned the Karnataka State Award for Second Best Film. His second movie Anuraga Aralithu was remade in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. He went on to make successful films like Ratha Sapthami and Nanjundi Kalyana.

The film was produced under Sri Eswari Productions of N. Veeraswamy. It had a very successful soundtrack composed by T. G. Lingappa. Popular actor-director V. Ravichandran, son of the film producer Veerasamy, appeared in the film as a child artist. Aralida Hoovugalu is a 1991 Indian Kannada-language romantic drama film directed by Chi. Dattaraj, with screenplay, dialogues and lyrics written by Chi. Udaya Shankar. The film stars Shiva Rajkumar, Vidyashree and Chi Guru Dutt. Produced by Parvathamma Rajkumar under Vajreshwari combines, the film screened for over a hundred days in the cinema halls. The film was a remake of the Hindi film Jawani Diwani.

Belliyappa Bangarappa is a 1992 Indian Kannada-language comedy drama film directed by Poorna Pragnya, written by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and produced by Madhu Bangarappa. The film stars Kumar Bangarappa and Amala, whilst a large number of popular actors including Vishnuvardhan, Shiva Rajkumar, V. Ravichandran, Tiger Prabhakar, Malashri and Sudharani appear in guest roles as themselves. Kumar Bangarappa played a dual role for the only time in his career. The film's music was composed by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and cinematographer is B. C. Gowrishankar.
