The Chicago Maroons women's basketball team is an NCAA Division III college basketball team competing in the University Athletic Association. Home games are played at the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center, located on the University of Chicago's campus in Chicago. [2] [3]

As of the 2015–16 season, the Maroons are 610–414 (.596) in 45 seasons of play. They are 218–181 in UAA play since joining in 1987. Aaron Roussell has the best coaching record in Maroon history, winning 161 games while losing only 50 (for a .763 percentage) in eight years as coach.

The Maroons have reached the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship five times (1995, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012). In 1995, they lost in the first round to Millikin 70–53. They reached the Round of 16 in 2008 (with wins over St. Thomas (Minnesota) and St. Norbert) before a loss to Kean 70–56. In 2010, they lost in the First Round to Simpson 66–53. In 2011, they reached the Quarterfinals (with wins over Hanover, Calvin and Greensboro) before a loss to Washington-St. Louis 63–58. In 2012, they reached the Round of 16 (with wins over Monmouth and Wisconsin-Eau Claire) before a loss to Calvin 68–50.
Patricia Susan Summitt was an American women's college basketball head coach who accrued 1,098 career wins, the most in college basketball history at the time of her retirement. She served as the head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team from 1974 to 2012.

The team was founded in 1925, having since won 12 regular season conference championships, 5 postseason conference championships, and made 18 appearances in the NCAA Tournament as of the 2020–21 season. The Red Raiders have played their home games at the United Supermarkets Arena since 1999 on the university's campus in Lubbock, Texas. The Red Raiders are coached by Mark Adams who will begin his first season as head coach for the 2021–22 season.

The Chicago Maroons football represents the University of Chicago in college football. The Maroons, which play in NCAA Division III, have been a football-only member of the Midwest Conference since 2017. The University of Chicago was a founding member of the Big Ten Conference and the Maroons were coached by Amos Alonzo Stagg for 41 seasons. In 1935, halfback Jay Berwanger became the first recipient of the Downtown Athletic Club Trophy, later known as the Heisman Trophy. In the late 1930s, university president Robert Maynard Hutchins decided that big-time college football and the university's commitment to academics were not a good fit. The University of Chicago abolished its football program in 1939 and withdrew from the Big Ten in 1946. Football returned to the University of Chicago in 1963 in the form of a club team, which was upgraded to varsity status in 1969. The Maroons began competing in Division III in 1973.

Derek William Kellogg is an American college basketball coach, currently the head men's basketball coach at Long Island University (LIU). Kellogg first arrived at the university in 2017, when he was named head coach of the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, which represented the school's Brooklyn campus. He was named head coach of the current LIU team upon its formation in July 2019 when LIU merged the Brooklyn athletic program with that of its Post campus, creating a new program that now competes as the LIU Sharks. Before arriving at LIU Brooklyn, Kellogg was head coach of the men's basketball team at his alma mater, the University of Massachusetts, being named to the position on April 23, 2008, replacing Travis Ford, who left to take the head coaching job at Oklahoma State University. He was removed from the position on March 9, 2017.
