Clanton is a city in Chilton County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Birmingham–Hoover–Cullman Combined Statistical Area. At the 2020 census, the population was 14,545. The city is the county seat of Chilton County. Clanton is near the site of the geographic center of the U.S. state of Alabama.

Formerly a Polish Jewish neighborhood, it was settled by a wave of Mexican immigrants beginning about 1910, and was recognized as Little Mexico by 1919, becoming a center of a Mexican-American community life in the city that lasted into the early 1980s, with a peak of population in the 1960s. Pike Park and a few structures are the remnants of the historic neighborhood, redeveloped as Uptown, including the Arts and West End Districts.

Oscar Carrillo was born in Hebbronville, Texas in Jim Hogg County to David Carrillo and Emma Pena Carrillo Chapa. Carrillo graduated from Benavides High School and married Evangelina Garcia on March 23, 1941. Together they had ten children. Carrillo was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the second World War and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service. In 1947, at age 26, Carrillo became the youngest Mayor of the City of Benavides. Carrillo was elected as county attorney in 1960 and served for 10 years. Carrillo served three terms as state representative of the 48th district from 1967 and 1973. He is remembered for his role in convincing Texas legislators to approve the Conally-Carrillo Act, which allowed thousands of Texans and low-income students to attend college area universities and is also credited with co-authoring legislation creating the University of Texas at San Antonio. The University of Texas at San Antonio conferred on him the degree of doctor of political science and doctor of laws.

He specializes in carving giant pumpkins from 100 pounds to more than a half ton each at events such as the Half Moon Bay Art and Pumpkin Festival, the State Fair of Texas, Orange County MarketPlace, and the San Diego Zoo, as well as various hotels, casinos, and malls.
Nicholas Stavrou is an English football midfielder and coach, who played thirteen years of professional indoor soccer with the Dallas Sidekicks. He currently serves as head coach of Fort Worth Vaqueros FC in the National Premier Soccer League and as the assistant coach for the Mesquite Outlaws of the Major Arena Soccer League.
Central High School is a public high school in Lowndes County, Alabama, at 145 Main Street in Hayneville, Alabama. The school has about 260 students, the vast majority African American. Students are mostly from low income families. The school, which scored in the bottom 6% of Alabama schools in reading and math, was listed as a failing school in 2019 under the Alabama Accountability Act. Lions are the school mascot and green and yellow the school colors.
