It serves portions of Prichard. [3] [4] It is named for administrator Mattie Thomas Blount. As of 2022, 96 percent of the student body is African American. [5] It had about 1,160 students. [6] The school colors are purple and white and leopards are the mascot. [7] It has won several championship in football and several players have gone on to the NFL. [8] [9]

Blount's athletic teams plays in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A Region One. The nickname for the athletic teams is the "Leopards".

In 2022, members of the football team were getting baptized together and the team was receiving visits from a local pastor. [10]

Mobile County Public School System (MCPSS) is a school district based in unincorporated Mobile County, Alabama, United States. The system currently serves areas of Mobile County, including the city of Mobile, with the exception of the cities of Saraland, Satsuma and Chickasaw. Saraland voted to separate its schools from Mobile County in 2006, with Satsuma and Chickasaw following suit in 2012. The system serves urban, suburban, and rural areas. John Anthony Copeland is a former American college and professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons. He played college football for the University of Alabama, was recognized as an All-American and was a member of a national championship team in 1992. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 1993 NFL Draft, and he played his entire pro career for the Bengals.

Mary Gillen Montgomery High School is a high school in Semmes, Mobile County, Alabama, United States.
