Christopher Penn (born 19 June 1963) is a retired English professional cricketer. Born in Dover,from 1974 to 1981 Penn was educated at Dover Grammar School for Boys. [1] He played for Kent County Cricket Club from 1982 to 1994,when he was forced to retire through injury. He was subsequently awarded a testimonial in 1996. [2]
He was named Kent's player of the year in 1988 when Kent finished second in the County Championship,taking 88 first-class wickets. After his retirement he worked for the England and Wales Cricket Board in facility development for 5 years before joining St Edmund's School,Canterbury as Head of Boy's Games in the Junior School. [3] He also spent periods of time as specialist bowling coach to Kent and the ECB women's cricket squad under coach Paul Farbrace.
Penn worked for the Transvaal Cricket Council under Dr Ali Bacher in the early 1980s coaching cricket in the Johannesburg Townships and playing club cricket for Kohinore Crescents,and Wits University and Green Point Cricket Club in Cape Town. He was awarded a Whitbread Scholarship to Perth,Western Australia in 1985.
Penn played two Test and two One-Day International matches for England under-19s in 1982 and was a schoolboy international at under-15 and under-17 level. His uncle Fred Durrant was a professional footballer for Queens Park Rangers,Brentford and Exeter City,later player-managing non-league side Dover.
Geraint Owen Jones is a former cricketer who played for both England and Papua New Guinea. Born to Welsh parents in Papua New Guinea,Jones was the first-choice wicketkeeper for the England cricket team between 2004 and 2006. He later played international cricket for Papua New Guinea from 2012 to 2014. He announced his retirement from first-class cricket in July 2015 following his resignation as the first-class cricket captain of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.
Kent County Cricket Club is one of the eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Kent. A club representing the county was first founded in 1842 but Kent teams have played top-class cricket since the early 18th century,and the club has always held first-class status. The St Lawrence Ground is a cricket ground in Canterbury,Kent. It is the home ground of Kent County Cricket Club and since 2013 has been known as The Spitfire Ground,St Lawrence,due to commercial sponsorship. It is one of the oldest grounds on which first-class cricket is played,having been in use since 1847,and is the venue for Canterbury Cricket Week,the oldest cricket festival in the world. It is one of the two grounds used regularly for first-class cricket that have had a tree,the St Lawrence Lime,within the boundary.
Frank Edward Woolley was an English professional cricketer who played for Kent County Cricket Club between 1906 and 1938 and for the England cricket team. A genuine all-rounder,Woolley was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm bowler. He was an outstanding fielder close to the wicket and is the only non wicket-keeper to have held over 1,000 catches in a first-class career,whilst his total number of runs scored is the second highest of all time and his total number of wickets taken the 27th highest.

Matthew Jonathan Walker,known as Matt Walker,is a retired English professional cricketer who is currently the head coach of Kent County Cricket Club. Walker was appointed as head coach in January 2017 having been assistant coach at the county since the 2014 season. He played for Kent for 16 seasons until 2008 and then for three seasons for Essex until he retired in 2011.

Dover Grammar School for Boys (DGSB) is a selective secondary school located in Dover,United Kingdom,whose origins can be traced back to the Education Act 1902 (the 'Balfour Act'). Originally founded as the Dover County School for Boys and Girls with locations behind the Dover Town Hall and on Priory Hill,the co-educational arrangements were early on prohibited by the Kent Education Committee. Mitchell Eric Claydon is an Australian-English former first-class cricketer. Although he was born at Fairfield,New South Wales he holds a British passport. Claydon is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. Claydon most recently played for Sussex County Cricket Club. In July 2021,Claydon announced that he would retire from cricket at the end of the 2021 season.

James Elliot Goodman is a former English professional cricketer who played for Kent County Cricket Club between 2007 and 2011. Playing as a top order batsman,Goodman represented England at age-group levels up to the under-19 side before retiring from professional cricket in 2011,aged 20,in order to pursue a career outside the game. Goodman was born in Farnborough in south-east London and attended St Olave's Grammar School in Orpington.
Sam Alexander Northeast is an English professional cricketer who plays for Glamorgan County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batsman. Northeast made his senior debut in 2007 and until 2017 played for Kent County Cricket Club. He captained the Kent First XI for most of the 2015 season before being formally appointed as club captain in 2016. He captained the side in 2017 before being replaced before the 2018 season after declining to sign a contract extension committing himself to the club in the longer term.
Edward Humphreys,known as Punter Humphreys,was an English professional cricketer who played first-class cricket for Kent County Cricket Club between 1899 and 1920. He played nearly 400 first-class matches and coached cricket after his retirement.

In 2018,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the 2018 t20 Blast. The county finished second in Division Two of the Championship and were promoted to Division One for the 2019 season. They reached the final of the One-Day Cup. losing to Hampshire at Lord's,and the quarter-final stage of the t20 Blast. In addition,before the start of the English cricket season,Kent competed in the 2017–18 Regional Super50,the List A competition of the West Indies domestic season,reaching the semi-final stage. This was the second time that Kent have competed in the competition,having played in the 2016–17 competition.
