Christine Hellen Amongin Aporu is a Ugandan educator and politician. She served as the State Minister for Teso Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011. [1] She represented Kumi District in Parliament as a women's representative. [2]

Background and education

She was born in Kumi District on 22 May 1958. She attended Nabuyanga Primary School and Soroti Secondary School. She studied at St. Aloysius Teachers College, in Ngora District, [3] graduating with the Grade III Certificate in Teaching, in 1979. In 1986, she graduated from the Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo, now part of Kyambogo University, with the Diploma in Education. She holds the degree of Bachelor of Education, obtained from Makerere University in 1996. She also holds a postgraduate Diploma in Management from Uganda Management Institute (UMI), awarded in 2005. Her degree of Masters in Human Resources Management was obtained from UMI in 2009. [2]

Career

Amongin Aporu began her career as a primary school teacher in 1980, serving in that capacity until 1984. Following her graduation from ITEK in 1986, she became a tutor at a teacher training college, serving in that capacity until 1996. She was first elected to represent Kumi District in 1996. Between 2001 and 2006, she served as a State Minister. She was a member of the Demobilization Resettlement Team of the Amnesty Commission, following the departure of the LRA from Ugandan soil. Following the 2011 national election she was appointed Minister of State for Teso Affairs. [2] [4]

She was also the elected Member of Parliament (MP) for "Bujenje County but lost the seat in 2016", Masindi District.

Janat Balunzi Mukwaya is a politician and former Major in the military of Uganda. Currently she is a Senior Presidential Advisor Before that, she previously served as the Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister from 16 February 2009 until 27 May 2011. the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Affairs from 6 June 2016 until December 2019. Minister of Trade and Industry from June 2006 until February 2009. In May 2011, she temporarily retired from politics and was replaced in the cabinet by Kiddu Makubuya. She also served as the elected member of Parliament for Mukono South Constituency in Mukono District, from 2006 until her retirement in 2011.

Charles Bakkabulindi, is a Ugandan politician. Of recent he served as the State Minister for Sports in the Ugandan Cabinet, Hamsom Obua succeeded him. He was appointed to that position in 2005. In the cabinet reshuffles of 1 June 2006, 16 February 2009, that of 27 May 2011, and that of 1 March 2015 he retained his cabinet post. He is also the Member of Parliament representing Workers.

She was the State Minister for Privatization in the Ministry of Finance, from June 2006 until May 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, she was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Aston Kajara. She also served as the elected Member of Parliament (MP), for Kapchorwa District Women's Representative, from 2006 until 2011. John Chrysestom Muyingo is a Ugandan educator and politician. He is the State Minister for Higher Education in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. He previously served as the State Minister for Primary Education from 1 March 2015 until 5 June 2016. Before that, from 27 May 2011 until 1 March 2015, he served as the State Minister for Higher Education, having replaced Mwesigwa Rukutana in May 2011. Muyingo was also the elected Member of Parliament for Bamunanika County, Luweero District. In the 2021 general elections he lost the seat to his former campaign manager and personal assistant, Robert Ssekitoleko who run on the National Unity Platform party ticket.

Agnes Akiror Egunyu, known as Agnes Akiror, is a Ugandan politician. She is the current State Minister for Teso Affairs in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. Prior to that, from 27 May 2011 until 6 June 2016, she served as Minister of State for Tourism. She replaced Serapio Rukundo, who was dropped from the cabinet. In the cabinet reshuffle of 1 March 2015, she retained her cabinet post. On account of being a cabinet minister, she is an ex-officio Member of Parliament.

Edward Bitanywaine Rugumayo is a Ugandan politician, diplomat, author, academic and environmentalist. He has previously served as cabinet minister in three Ugandan administrations. She was the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, in the Ugandan Cabinet, from 14 December 2019 to 8 June 2021. Before that, from 10 June 2016, until 14 December 2019, she served as the State Minister for the Environment in the Cabinet of Uganda. Dr Mary Kitutu concurrently serves as the elected Manafwa District Women's Representative, in the 10th Parliament.

Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, also Rosemary Nansubuga Sseninde, is a Ugandan educator and politician. She is the State Minister for Primary Education in the Ugandan Cabinet. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016, replacing John Chrysostom Muyingo who became State Minister for Higher Education. She concurrently serves as the Wakiso District Women's Representative in the Parliament of Uganda.

Peace Regis Mutuuzo is a Ugandan politician who serves as the Women representative for Bunyangabu District. She is the Minister of State for Gender and Culture in the Ugandan Cabinet. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. In 2021, she was re elected into the eleventh Uganda Parliament.

Kania Mario Obiga is a Ugandan politician. He is the State Minister for Internal Affairs in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position of 6 June 2016. He concurrently serves as the elected representative of Terego County East, Arua District, in the 10th Parliament of Uganda (2016–2021).

Judith Nalule Nabakooba is a Ugandan politician and former policewoman. She is currently the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 8 June 2021.

She won the 2021 general elections for her position as the representative of people with disabilities for Eastern region. Hellen is affiliated to the National Resistance Movement political party.
