Ciclos (English: Cycles) is the 17th studio album recorded by American salsa singer-songwriter Luis Enrique, The album was released by Top Stop Music on 19 May 2009 (see 2009 in music). The album became his first number-one set on the Billboard Tropical Albums chart since Una Historia Diferente in 1991.

Juanes was the night's biggest winner winning a record five awards including Album of the Year. He tied his own record winning five awards again five years later in 2008. Juan Luis Guerra and Calle 13 also tied this record in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

Jorge Alberto Villamizar Iregui is a Colombian musician, singer and composer, leader of the band Bacilos, and one of the most representative Latin American singers. Villamizar came to prominence as the lead member of the band Bacilos. Bacilos released their album Madera in 1999, and in 2000 they recorded their first album with Warner Music, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy award for Best New Artist. Caraluna (2002) was released and won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album, and Villamizar was awarded a Latin Grammy for Best Tropical Song for the second single "Mi Primer Millón". The album Sin Vergüenza won a Latin Grammy and the track "Pasos de Gigante" became the band's only top ten single in the Billboard Top Latin Songs, which peaked at number eight. Bacilos disbanded in 2007 and Villamizar made his debut solo album in 2008. Villamizar has written and co-written songs with Marc Anthony, Obie Bermúdez, Julieta Venegas, El Burro y Esteban and Paulina Rubio.

Otra Nota is the debut album by American singer Marc Anthony that was released on January 26, 1993, by RMM Records. Produced by Sergio George, it was the first album by Anthony to record in salsa after starting his career as a freestyle musician. Recording of the album began after Anthony asked RMM president Ralph Mercado to record Juan Gabriel's "Hasta Que Te Conocí" in salsa after hearing it on the radio during a taxi ride. Recorded on a low budget, the album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Tropical Albums chart and reached No. 30 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart.

La Llave de Mi Corazón is the 10th studio album recorded by Dominican singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra, It was released by EMI Televisa Music on March 20, 2007. It was Guerra's first album to contain songs in English since his 1994 recording of Fogarate. The album contains fusions of mambo and tropical rhythms that Guerra himself defined as "Mambo merengue". Its production and musical structure of album is based on merengue, bachata and salsa and encompasses elements of Blues, Son, Jazz, Mambo and Bossa Nova. The album was written, arranged and produced by Juan Luis Guerra and according to the artist is his most romantic album. "Yo No Te Pido" is a song written by Jorge Luís Piloto and performed by Puerto Rican salsa singer Gilberto Santa Rosa from his tenth studio album Esencia (1996). It was released as the second single from the album. In the song, the singer tells a woman he does not ask for too much and they can do it as friends. It became his second #1 hit on the Tropical Airplay chart. The track was recognized as one of the best-performing songs of the year on the Tropical/salsa field at the 1998 ASCAP Latin Awards.
