CityLink Brown (abbreviated BR) is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration between Downtown Baltimore City, and Overlea, Baltimore County, or Gardenville, Baltimore County. [1] Northbound trips on the route depart from University of Maryland Medical Center, at the intersection of South Greene Street and West Pratt Street in Downtown Baltimore, and terminate at the intersection of Belair Road and East Overlea Avenue just outside the eastern Baltimore City boundary. On August 27, 2023, the route was truncated from White Marsh Mall to Overlea, with service between those two points replaced by an extension of Route 33. [3]
The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is a state-operated mass transit administration in Maryland, and is part of the Maryland Department of Transportation. The MTA operates a comprehensive transit system throughout the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area. There are 80 bus lines serving the Baltimore Metropolitan Area, along with rail services that include the Light Rail, Metro Subway, and MARC Train. In 2022, the system had a ridership of 52,922,000, or about 219,300 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2023.
Baltimore Light RailLink is a light rail system serving Baltimore, Maryland, United States, and its northern and southern suburbs. It is operated by the Maryland Transit Administration. In downtown Baltimore, it uses city streets. Outside the central portions of the city, the line is built on private rights-of-way, mostly from the defunct Northern Central Railway, Baltimore and Annapolis Railroad and Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis Electric Railway. The system had a ridership of 3,262,100, or about 9,200 per weekday, as of the first quarter of 2023.
Maryland Route 355 (MD 355) is a 36.75-mile (59.14 km) north–south road in western central Maryland in the United States. The southern terminus of the route, Wisconsin Avenue, is located in Bethesda in Montgomery County, at the county's border with Washington, D.C. It continues south into Washington, D.C. as Wisconsin Avenue NW. The northern terminus is just north of a bridge over Interstate 70 (I-70)/U.S. Route 40 (US 40) in the city of Frederick in Frederick County, where the road continues north as Market Street through Frederick towards MD 26.
Maryland Route 43 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as White Marsh Boulevard, the state highway runs 8.65 miles (13.92 km) from Interstate 695 (I-695) near Parkville east to MD 150 in Middle River. MD 43 is a four-lane divided highway in eastern Baltimore County that connects the northern and eastern suburbs of Baltimore with the commercial center of White Marsh, where the highway has junctions with I-95 and U.S. Route 40. The state highway was built from west of I-95 to US 40 concurrent with the construction of I-95 in the early 1960s. MD 43 was extended west to Parkville in the early 1990s and east to Middle River in 2006.
Quickbus 40 was a limited stop bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore and its suburbs. The line was discontinued in June 2017 as part of the BaltimoreLink system rebranding along with the other "Quickbus" limited-stop routes. In April 2022, the MTA announced a proposal to revive the route before the end of the same year as the QuickLink 40.
Route 51 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore and its suburbs. The line currently runs from the center of Towson to the Inner Harbor in Downtown Baltimore, serving the Charles Street corridor. Route 51 replaced Route 11 on June 18, 2017 due to the BaltimoreLink bus system overhaul.
Route 15 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore and its suburbs. The line currently runs from Security Square Mall, Westview Mall, Windsor Hills, or Walbrook Junction through downtown Baltimore and northeast to Overlea, with selected peak hour express trips to Perry Hall. The main roads on which it operates include Security Boulevard, Windsor Mill Road, Forest Park Avenue, Poplar Grove Street, Edmondson Avenue, Saratoga Street, Gay Street, and Belair Road, and is one of the most heavily used bus routes operated by the MTA.
LocalLink Route 56 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore and its suburbs. The line runs between the Park and Ride station in White Marsh and Charles Center in Downtown Baltimore. In June 2017, LocalLink 56 replaced the former local bus Route 35, which connected the city's downtown area with White Marsh, to the east of the city, and UMBC to the west. Route 35 was the successor to the No. 3 Wilkens Avenue and No, 6 Monument Street streetcar lines.
Mondawmin station is a Metro SubwayLink station in Baltimore, Maryland. It is located under the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Liberty Heights Avenue in the Mondawmin neighborhood, adjacent to the Mondawmin Mall. It is the northernmost underground station on the line, and a major transfer point to many bus routes.
The Maryland Transit Administration was originally known as the Baltimore Metropolitan Transit Authority, then the Maryland Mass Transit Administration before it changed to its current name in October 2001. The MTA took over the operations of the old Baltimore Transit Company on April 30, 1970.
Mondawmin Mall is a three-level shopping mall in West Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The mall was a development of the Mondawmin Corporation, a firm set up in 1952 by James Rouse and Hunter Moss under the Moss-Rouse Company. When it first opened in October 1956, it had an open-air plan and was called the Mondawmin Center. It was later enclosed and renamed the Mondawmin Mall.
Charles Center station is an underground 2 floor Metro SubwayLink station in Baltimore, Maryland making it the largest station on the line. Located at the Charles Center in Downtown Baltimore, it is a downtown transportation hub serving many bus lines, nearby various landmarks, and bus transfers. It was the final stop of the line until 1995, when the extension to Johns Hopkins Hospital opened. The station is in close proximity to CFG Bank Arena as well as the Baltimore Arena station on the Light RailLink. The station has two street level entrances via escalators and elevators and is the center most station on the line serving Central Downtown Baltimore.
LocalLink 30 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore and its suburbs. It replaced route 44 following the 2017 BaltimoreLink overhaul of the bus network. The line currently runs from Rosedale Industrial Park near Pulaski Highway just outside the Baltimore city limits on the east side of the city across the northern portion of the city to Security Square Mall, with selected peak hour trips to the Social Security Administration. Some early morning trips before 7 AM lay over at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) headquarters. The line operates mostly along Frankford Avenue, Echodale Avenue, East Belvedere Avenue, Northern Parkway, Rogers Avenue, and Gwynn Oak Avenue, serving the communities of Gardenville, Hamilton, Belvedere Park, Homeland, Roland Park, Pimlico, and Arlington, and the western suburb of Woodlawn.
Route 58 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore and its suburbs. The line's western terminus is the Reisterstown Plaza Metro Subway Station, and its eastern terminus is White Marsh Mall, though some peak hour trips make short turns in Overlea. Route 58 serves the communities of Glen, Cheswolde, Fallstaff, a large section of Northern Parkway, and a portion of Belair Road in Baltimore County.
Route 47 is a limited stop bus route, identified as a "Quickbus", operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore. The line currently runs from the Overlea Loop in Northeast Baltimore to Walbrook Junction, in West Baltimore. Service operates every 15 minutes during rush hour only. The main roads on which it operates include Poplar Grove Street, Saratoga Street, Gay Street, and Belair Road. Service operates Monday–Friday, every 15 minutes, from 5:30 a.m.– 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m.
Hawkins Point is a neighborhood in the South District of Baltimore, located at the southern tip of the city between Curtis Bay (north) and the Anne Arundel County line (south) and Thoms Cove (east). Its land area covers 2.6 square miles (6.7 km2), and it had a population of 24 people according to the 2020 U.S. Census. The neighborhood is predominantly industrial.
West Hills is a neighborhood in the Southwest District of Baltimore, located between the neighborhoods of Westgate (south), Franklintown (north) and Hunting Ridge (east). Its boundaries are drawn by the Baltimore County line (west), Baltimore National Pike (south) and North Franklintown Road (north). Its eastern boundary follows Cooks Lane from Baltimore National Pike, then Briarclift Road and finally Wynans Way to the intersection with N. Franklintown Road.
LocalLink 26 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore between Mondawmin and Brooklyn. On southbound trips, the route departs from Mondawmin Metro Bus Bay 2, near the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Liberty Heights Avenue north of Mondawmin Mall in West Baltimore, and terminates at the South Baltimore Park & Ride near the intersection of South Hanover Street and Baltic Avenue. Northbound trips run in the opposite direction between these terminal stops.
CityLink Blue is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration between Bayview, Baltimore City, and Westgate, Baltimore City, or Woodlawn, Baltimore County. Most westbound trips on the route depart from Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, at the intersection of East Lombard Street and Bioscience Drive in East Baltimore, and terminate at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on Security Boulevard in Woodlawn. Some trips on late nights on weekdays or throughout the day on weekends terminate instead at the North Bend Loop by the intersection of Edmondson Avenue and North Bend Road, near the western boundary of Baltimore City. Eastbound trips travel the reverse route between these terminal stops; likewise, most of these trips depart from the CMS stop, but some depart from the North Bend Loop stop.
