Club My War (also known as Club My War O)))) is a platform for underground metal and punk bands to play at intimate venues in the greater Los Angeles area, notably Hollywood. [1] Formed in 2009 by Eddie Solis of Southern Lord Records, [2] events are held on a weekly or monthly basis at venues such as The Viper Room, Dragonfly, and Troubadour. Club My War hosted the first U.S. performance of doom metal superband Shrinebuilder, as well as performances by Dave Lombardo's new band Philm, Wolves in the Throneroom, Weedeater, 16, [3] It's Casual, [1] Black Cobra, Municipal Waste, and Torche. Overview

Club My War is an ongoing weekly [1] or monthly [5] event in the greater Los Angeles area, founded by Eddie Solis of the band It's Casual and Southern Lord Records. The recurring event hosts metal, hardcore punk, stoner rock, drone metal, and skate rock bands in small intimate venues. [2] While Club My War operates at different locations [1] such as The Viper Room, and was a regular event at The Relax Bar in Eastern Hollywood until 2010, when the venue closed. [2] Included among multiple other venues are the Blue Monkey in Hollywood, [6] East Side Luv in Boyle Heights, and The Dragonfly in Hollywood. [7]

Club My War is frequently documented by music photographer Rick Kosick of Jackass and Big Brother , who started attending shows at The Relax Bar in early 2010. [1]

Shrinebuilder

On November 11, 2009, [2] Club My War arranged and hosted the first live show in the United States by the recently formed doom metal supergroup Shrinebuilder. The band includes Scott "Wino" Weinrich of Saint Vitus and The Hidden Hand, Scott Kelly of Neurosis, Al Cisneros of Om and Sleep, and Dale Crover of the Melvins. The band had formed earlier in 2009, [8] and had released their widely praised debut album Shrinebuilder just the month before. [2] The band played two sets [9] at the Viper Room. [10] The venue and show were praised by Scott Kelly, especially for the intimacy and the "die-hard" mentality of the audience. [9]

The Obsessed is an American heavy metal band from Potomac, Maryland, led by Scott "Wino" Weinrich. The band combines elements of doom metal, stoner rock, and punk rock. Formed in 1980, they recorded a few demos and played a handful of live shows until they first split up in 1986 when Weinrich joined as lead vocalist for Saint Vitus, but reformed four years later. After releasing three albums, the Obsessed broke up for a second time in 1995. After briefly reuniting for some shows in 2012 and 2013, the Obsessed announced their third reunion in March 2016.

Southern Lord is an American heavy metal record label that was founded in 1998 by Greg Anderson. It specialized in experimental metal: particularly doom metal, stoner rock, and drone metal. The label later expanded its line-up to include artists from black metal, hardcore punk and crust punk bands.

Saint Vitus is an American doom metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1979. They are considered to be one of the first doom metal bands, and have been labeled as one of the "big four" of that genre, along with Candlemass, Pentagram and Trouble. Having released nine studio albums to date, Saint Vitus never achieved a popular breakthrough, but have exerted great influence on the development of doom metal, sludge metal, and stoner rock.

The Viper Room is a nightclub and live music venue located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, United States. It was established as The Viper Room in 1993 and was partly owned by actor Johnny Depp. The other part owner was Sal Jenco who starred in 21 Jump Street with Depp. The club became known for being a hangout of the young Hollywood elite, and was the site where actor River Phoenix died of a drug overdose on Halloween night in 1993. In early 1995, Australian singer and actor Jason Donovan suffered a drug-induced seizure at the club and survived. In November 1997, Australian rock star Michael Hutchence played his last public performance in the Viper Room, a week before his suicide.

Scott Michael Kelly is an American singer and musician. He is one of three founding members of California experimental metal band Neurosis, in which he is a vocalist and guitarist. He has been writing and publishing music since 1985 with Neurosis, Tribes of Neurot, Blood and Time and his solo acoustic project. He is also involved in a project named Shrinebuilder involving Al Cisneros, Scott Weinrich, and Dale Crover. The first album from Shrinebuilder was released in October 2009. He has also guested on six studio albums by the band Mastodon.

It's Casual is a two-piece Los Angeles hardcore punk band formed in 2001. Founded and fronted by Eddie Solis, the band has released the three studio albums Buicregl (2002), Stop Listening to Bad Music (2004), and The New Los Angeles (2007) all on CD and LP. It's Casual has performed with groups such as Story of the Year, Fu Manchu, Mastodon, High on Fire, and Zeke.

Eddie Solis is a Los Angeles music industry professional, musician, and show promoter. He has worked in sales, marketing and artist promotion at labels such as Century Media, Priority Records, Macey Lipman Marketing, and SST Records, where he worked with Black Flag. He is no longer the general manager at Southern Lord Records. Until 2010 he was booking manager of the Hollywood heavy rock venue The Relax Bar. He is also the manager of Club My War, a facilitator of underground metal hardcore and avant-garde music in Hollywood proper.

<i>Lillie: F-65</i> 2012 studio album by Saint Vitus

Lillie: F-65 is the eighth studio album by American doom metal band Saint Vitus, released on April 27, 2012. This is the first Saint Vitus studio album since Die Healing (1995) and the only one to feature Scott "Wino" Weinrich on vocals in 22 years, since V (1990). It also marks their first album with Henry Vasquez on drums, and their final release with bassist Mark Adams, who left the band in 2016 due to Parkinson's disease.

Premonition 13 is a project by The Obsessed and Saint Vitus' vocalist/guitarist Scott "Wino" Weinrich. The project started in 2009 with Wino's jam colleague of 20 years Jim Karow. Matthew Clark was later brought in to play drums.

Gerry Paul Nestler is an American vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter best known for his work with L.A. avantgarde progressive metal band Civil Defiance and experimental post-hardcore triumvirate Philm, featuring former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and bassist Francisco 'Pancho' Tomaselli of War. Nestler has also recorded with the bands Kkleq Muzzil, Super Rider and Look Past The Stars as well as guested with DJ Spooky.
