A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants.

Janel Bishop is an American beauty queen who won the 1991 Miss Teen USA title. She is the first African-American winner of this pageant.
African Queen was the name of two boats used in the 1951 movie The African Queen starring Humprey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. It was filmed in the Belgian Congo on a tributary of the Congo River, and on the Nile in the Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda. Two boats were utilised, one in each location. One of the boats is now located in Key Largo, Florida and on February 18, 1992, was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The other is located in Jinja, Uganda.

Sheryl Scanlan, originally known as Sheryl Clarke, is a former netball international who has played for Samoa and New Zealand. She captained Samoa at the 1999 World Netball Championships. From 2005 - 2007 Victoria Smith represented the Capital Shakers team, in now defunct National Bank Cup and prior to this played for the Queensland Firebirds in the Australian Commonwealth Bank Cup. She also represented the Australian 19 and under team in 2002–2003. Smith specialises in the positions of GK and GD.

Corran School was a small independent girls' school catering for students from ages 5 to 18 located in Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand. This school was established in 1947 by Mrs Constance Duthie. It closed at the end of 2009, and Saint Kentigern School for Girls was established at the site of the former school.
Koyal Rana is an Indian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Femina Miss India 2014. She came to attention at the age of 15 during MTV Teen Diva. At the age of 21 she represented India in Miss World 2014 that was held in London and ended up to be in the top 10 with the highest score. She was crowned Miss World Asia after the event.
Lance O'Sullivan is a New Zealand Māori doctor formerly practising in Kaitaia, Northland. He is also an author, public speaker and public health advocate. In 2013 O'Sullivan was declared Ngā Toa Whakaihuwaka, and in 2014 he was declared New Zealander of the Year 2014 for bringing health programmes to disadvantaged in rural areas.
Courage Productions runs the Miss BC pageant, including the Mrs. BC, Miss Teen BC, and Miss Charity BC titles. It was founded in Langley in 2002 by Darren Storsley. The final pageant night is televised by Shaw TV. The pageant has not been held since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
