Ole Einar Bjørndalen is a retired Norwegian professional biathlete, often referred to by the nickname, the "King of Biathlon". With 13 Winter Olympic Games medals, he is second on the list of multiple medalists behind Marit Bjørgen who has won 15 medals. He is also the most successful biathlete of all time at the Biathlon World Championships, having won 45 medals, more than double that of any other biathlete except Martin Fourcade. With 95 World Cup wins, Bjørndalen is ranked first all-time for career victories on the Biathlon World Cup tour, more than twice that of anyone else but Fourcade. He has won the Overall World Cup title six times, in 1997–98, in 2002–03, in 2004–05, in 2005–06, in 2007–08 and in 2008–09.
Jan Hoffmann is a German figure skater who represented East Germany in competition. A four-time Olympian, he is the 1980 Olympic silver medalist, the 1974 & 1980 World Champion, and a four-time European Champion.
Gillian Taylforth is an English actress. She is best known for her role as Kathy Beale on the BBC soap opera EastEnders, and has also appeared as Jackie Pascoe-Webb on ITV's Footballers' Wives (2002–2006), and more recently as Sgt. Nikki Wright in ITV's The Bill (2006–08). She has also appeared in film during her early career, has presented on ITV's Loose Women and appeared as a celebrity contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2008.
Albania sent a delegation to compete at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy between 10–26 February 2006. This was the nation's first appearance at a Winter Olympic Games, having previously participated several times in the Summer Olympics. The delegation consisted of one alpine skier, Erjon Tola, who competed in three events. His best finish was 35th in the giant slalom.
Andorra sent a delegation to compete at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy from 10–26 February 2006. The Andorran delegation consisted of three competitors, two in alpine skiing and one in cross country skiing. Roger Vidosa provided Andorra's best performance at these Games, with a 27th place finish in the men's slalom alpine skiing event. As of these Games, Andorra has never won an Olympic medal.
Mongolia sent a delegation to compete at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy from 10-26 February 2006. The delegation consisted of two cross-country skiiers, Erdene-Ochiryn Ochirsüren and Khürelbaataryn Khash-Erdene. Their best finish in any event was 68th in the women's 10 kilometer classical by Ochirsüren. The same two competitors would return to the Olympics four years later representing Mongolia at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Kris Wirtz is a Canadian former pair skater. With Kristy Sargeant, he is the 1999 Four Continents silver medalist, the 1994 Skate Canada International champion, and a two-time Canadian national champion. The pair competed at two Winter Olympics.
Emil Hegle Svendsen is a retired Norwegian biathlete. He has won eight medals at Winter Olympics and five individual gold medals and seven relay gold medals at World Championships.
Matti Pitkänen is a Finnish former cross-country skier who competed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He won two medals in the 4 x 10 km at the Winter Olympics with a gold in 1976 and a bronze in 1980. He also finished 6th in the 30 km at the 1980 Winter Olympics.

The delegation consisted of a single athlete, cross-country skier Mithat Yıldırım. In his only event, he finished in 87th place.
San Marino sent a delegation to compete at the 2002 Winter Olympics, in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States from 8–24 February 2002. This was the nation's sixth appearance at a Winter Olympic Games. The delegation consisted of a single athlete, alpine skier Gian Matteo Giordani. In his race, the giant slalom, he finished in last place of those who finished the course at 57th.
Francisco "Paquito" Fernández Ochoa was a World Cup alpine ski racer from Spain. Born in Madrid and raised north of the city in Cercedilla, he was the eldest of eight children whose father ran a ski school. Paquito raced in all of the alpine disciplines and specialized in slalom.
Nepal sent a delegation to compete at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, United States from 8–24 February 2002. This was Nepal's first time participating in a Winter Olympic Games. The delegation consisted of a single cross-country skier, Jay Khadka. In the men's sprint he finished in 70th place, and in the men's 2 × 10 kilometre pursuit he finished in 79th place, and did not advance to the finals of either event.

The country's participation at Vancouver marked its third appearance at a Winter Olympics since its debut in 1992. The delegation consisted of a single cross-country skier, Mehdi-Selim Khelifi. Khelifi competed in the 15 kilometre freestyle event, and finished in 84th place

This was Albania's second appearance at a Winter Olympic Games. The Albanian delegation consisted of a single alpine skier, Erjon Tola, whose best finish between all his events was 48th.
Erika Leslie Taylforth is a retired pair skater who represented both the United States and Great Britain. With partner Thomas Huff, she won the bronze medal at the United States Figure Skating Championships in 1974. She later married partner Colin Taylforth and skated for Britain with him. They won the gold medal at the 1976 British Figure Skating Championships, finished 11th at the European Figure Skating Championships in 1976, and then came in 11th at the 1976 Winter Olympics.
Linda Connolly McCafferty was a pair skater who represented Great Britain. With partner Colin Taylforth, she finished 9th at the 1971 European Figure Skating Championships and 14th at the 1972 Winter Olympics.
