The Athletic Association of the Great Public Schools of New South Wales (AAGPS) is a sporting association of boys' schools in New South Wales, Australia that contest sporting events among themselves. The AAGPS was formed on 30 March 1892, and today has nine members – eight Sydney schools and one northern NSW country school. The descriptor 'Public School' references the historical usage of the term and the model of the British public school; all except Sydney Boys High School are in modern parlance private schools.

Founded in 1924 by the Presbyterian Church of Australia as an all-boys school, and named after John Knox. The school has since grown, branching out into a large Senior School and a Preparatory School, enrolling approximately 2900 students. The New South Wales Suburban Rugby Union, or NSWSRU, is affiliated to the New South Wales Rugby Union and runs the competition affectionately known as "Subbies" rugby. There are around 7,500 players and 55 clubs competing across 6 divisions, making "Subbies" the largest centrally administered rugby competition in the world. NSWSRU is truly the grassroots of rugby in Sydney.
The Auckland Rugby Union is a New Zealand provincial rugby union. The union was established in 1883 and was originally responsible for the administration of the sport in most of the former Auckland Province, although its boundaries have since shrunk to include only a portion of the Auckland urban area. The union governs the Auckland representative team, which has won New Zealand's first-tier domestic provincial competition 17 times, more than any other team. Their most recent title was the 2018 Mitre 10 Cup Premiership. The union administers all club rugby within its boundaries, including the Gallaher Shield and other senior club rugby, as well as school rugby. Auckland also acts as a primary feeder to the Blues, who play in the Super Rugby competition.
The Lawrence Campbell Oratory Competition is an annual competition in impromptu public speaking between representatives of each of the Great Public Schools (GPS) and Combined Associated Schools (CAS) in New South Wales, Australia. It was established in 1935, in honour of Lawrence Campbell, a famous teacher of elocution in various schools in Sydney, in the early twentieth century. Between 2006 and 2013, in all but one year (2009), the competition was won by a student in year 11. At the 2015 World University Debating Championships in Malaysia, three of the eight speakers in the Grand Final were former Lawrence Campbell winners – a testament to the quality of the Lawrence Campbell competition.
Kinross Wolaroi School is an independent Uniting Church co-educational early learning, primary, and secondary day and boarding school, located in Orange, a rural city 260 kilometres (160 mi) west of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The Waverley Rugby Football and Sporting Club is an Australian rugby club that was founded in 1971 by ex-students of the neighbouring Waverley College and their friends from other local schools. As the Club developed during the 1970s and 1980s, the name "Waverley", its players and supporters, became synonymous with diversity, reflecting the multiculturalism of the Waverley municipality. The club also developed into a sporting club playing netball, softball, touch football, volleyball and, in 2001, women's rugby. It is plays in the New South Wales Suburban Rugby Union, the largest rugby union football competition in New South Wales. The club is based in Bondi in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. In 2020, in its 50th season, Waverley's 1st and 3rd Grades reached the grand finals of the Kentwell and Whiddon Cups of the NSW Suburban Rugby Union competition. In 2022, Waverley had all 5 men's open teams reach the semi-finals as well as the U21s, playing in 5 grand finals and winning three: 2nds, 3rds & U21s. In 2023, Waverley had all 5 men's open teams again reach the semi-finals, playing in 3 grand finals and winning all three: 3rds, 4ths & 5ths.
Anthony James Morell Rae (1927-2000) was an Australian-born headmaster of a GPS School and chairman of the Headmasters' Conference of the Independent Schools of Australia.
Bruce Northleigh Carter AM is an Australian educator who was headmaster of Scotch Oakburn College and Cranbrook before becoming headmaster of the Emanuel School in 2001. He retired in late 2010 and was replaced by Anne Hastings.

The NSW AAGPS is a school basketball competition played in Australia. It is an annual, 14 round competition played between 8 Sydney member teams that include Saint Ignatius Riverview, St Joseph's Hunters Hill, Sydney Grammar, Sydney Boys High, Newington College, Scots College, The Kings school and Sydney Church Of England Grammar School (Shore). Preseason games are played in Term 3-4 school holidays in the Knox Invitational tournament and Raschke Cup as well as the Trinity Challenge in Summer, with the official GPS games played in Term 4 and 1 on Saturday. 1st grade games commence at 11:45 and often attract large crowds, whilst second grade games commence at 10:00. The 1st grade premiership is currently held by Newington College while the Rashcke cup is held by Newington College. In 2nd grade the premiership is held by St Ignatius College, Riverview and The Scots College while the PJ Yeend Trophy is currently held by Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview.
