Corinne Stoddard (born August 15, 2001) is an American short track speed skater. She represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Career

Stoddard competed at the 2019 Inline World Junior Championship, winning a gold medal in the 10K elimination race. [1] During the 2019–20 season, she won a bronze medal with the relay team in Shanghai, along with Maame Biney, Kristen Santos and Julie Letai. This was the United States' first World Cup medal in the event in eight years. [2]

She competed at the 2020 World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships, where she won a silver medal in the 1000 metres and a bronze medal in the 500 metres. [3] [4]

She represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics. [5] She suffered a broken nose during the 500 metres event. [6] [7]

In 2023, Stoddard competed at the 2023 Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships and won gold medal in 2000 metres mixed relay & bronze medal in 3000 metres relay.

In 2024, she competed at the 2024 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships and won three medals, a silver medal in 3000 metres relay and bronze medal in the 1500 metres & 2000 metres mixed relay. Stoddard and Kristen Santos-Griswold became the first Americans to win a medal at the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships since J. R. Celski in 2014 and the first American women to do so since Lana Gehring in 2012. [8]

Maryse Perreault is a former short track speed skater who competed on the Canadian speed skating team from 1981 to 1990. At the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships during these years, she won over twenty combined medals in individual races and the 3000 metres relay. In the overall World Championships classification, Perreault was the 1982 ladies champion and had a top three placing in 1983, 1986 and 1989. Outside of the World Championships, Perreault won bronze at the 1988 Winter Olympics in the 3000 metres relay when short track speed skating was a demonstration sport. Perreault was named to the Speed Skating Canada Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1992.

The women's 1000 metres competition in short track speed skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 9 February (heats) and 11 February (finals), at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing. Suzanne Schulting of the Netherlands won the gold medal and thereby successfully defended her 2018 title. In the semifinal, Schulting set the new world record. Choi Min-jeong won the silver medal, and Hanne Desmet of Belgium the bronze. Desmet's medal was the first ever Belgian medal in short track speed skating and only the seventh Belgian medal at the Winter Olympics.
