Cornel Rasanga Amoth (born 22 May 1957) is a Kenyan politician. He is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement and was elected as the first governor of Siaya County. [1]
Rasanga popularly known amongst his supporters as Pemblepe was born on 22 May 1957 to the late Senior Chief Amoth Owira and the late Yunia Nudi in Segere Village,Alego,in Siaya County. He attended Segere Primary School between 1963 and 1970 and Maranda High School for his O-Level secondary education between 1970 and 1974. He proceeded to Kisii High School for his A- level Secondary Education where he completed in 1977. Rasanga joined the University of Nairobi in 1979 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree in 1981.
In 1982,Rasanga entered the public service in the Ministry of Agriculture as a supplies officer in charge of National Agricultural laboratories. To advance his knowledge in procurement,he joined the Kenya Institute of Administration (KIA) where he attained a Diploma in Supplies Management in 1985. Rasanga proceeded to work as a supplies officer in different districts and was promoted to senior procurement officer in charge of procurement and materials management. In 2000,Rasanga went back to university to pursue a law degree and graduated in 2003 from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Law (LLB). He was admitted as an advocate of the High Court in 2005. [2]
Rasanga entered politics in 2013 when he vied for Governor for Siaya County. The Orange Democratic Movement selected Rasanga as its candidate after a disputed nomination between Oburu Odinga and Oduol. He won the 4 March general election but his election was nullified by the Court of Appeal in Kisumu on 23 August. Rasanga clinched the governorship in a subsequent by-election and became the first governor-elect of Siaya County.In 2017 he won the gubernatorial seat again flooring the then public accounts committee chair and Rarieda Mp Nicholas Odero Gumbo [3]
James Aggrey Bob Orengo is a Kenyan lawyer,a well known human rights activist and politician who is the current governor for Siaya County. He is also one of the few Kenyan lawyers who have attained the professional grade of Senior counsel in the legal field,a title that he earned under former president Mwai Kibaki.
Siaya County is one of the counties in the former Nyanza Province in the Western part of Kenya. It is bordered by Busia County to the north,Kakamega County and Vihiga County's to the northeast and Kisumu County to the southeast. It shares a water border with Homa Bay County which is located south of Siaya County. The total area of the county is approximately 2,496.1 km2. The county lies between latitude 0°26' to 0°18' north and longitude 33°58' east and 34°33' west. Siaya has been split up into six new districts. Under the Constitution 2010,the role of districts are still unclear as much of administrative authority is being transferred to the county. The capital is Siaya,even though the largest town is Bondo.
Martha Wangari Karua is a Kenyan politician. She is a former long-standing member of parliament for Gichugu Constituency and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She was Minister for Justice until resigning from that position in April 2009. She has consistently fought for the protection of women's rights and improvements to the democratic process.

Local elections were held in Siaya County to elect a Governor and County Assembly on 4 March 2013. Under the new constitution,which was passed in a 2010 referendum,the 2013 general elections were the first in which Governors and members of the County Assemblies for the newly created counties were elected. They will also be the first general elections run by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) which has released the official list of candidates. On March 2013,Rasanga was announced the winner after defeating his key rival William Oduol,who came second with a small margin but showed dissatisfaction in the elections outcome and filed petition against the governor elect in the court of law. He won the case and the court ordered for a by-election in the county,which Amoth Rasanga later emerged victorious to become the first governor for Siaya County.
Anne Mumbi Waiguru,EGH,is the second Governor of Kirinyaga County in Kenya,who has been in office since 22 August 2017. She was re-elected to office as Governor for her second 5-year term in the elections that were held on 9th August 2022. Previously,she served as the first Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Devolution and Planning. She was nominated by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta to the position on 25 April 2013. She is behind the establishment of Huduma Centres,places where Kenyan citizens can access government services more efficiently at their respective counties. as well as the 30% procurement rule,which accords at least 30 per cent of all supply contracts to the government to the youth,persons with disability and women.
Mvurya Salim Mgala is a Kenyan politician and Cabinet Secretary for Mining,Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs. He became the first governor of Kwale County,Kenya after winning in the 2013 general elections. He vied on an Orange Democratic Movement ticket but later joined the Jubilee Party of Kenya. It was announced on 30 August 2017 that he will be named Chairman of Kenya's Council of Governors. Unfortunately he didn't get to,instead governor Wycliffe Oparanya took over from NANOK. In October 2022,he was appointed the Cabinet Secretary for Mining,Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary.
