Swan River is a provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was created in 1903, in what was then the northwestern corner of the province. Manitoba's borders expanded significantly in 1912, and Swan River is now located in the centre of the province, close to its western border with Saskatchewan. The division has seen several redistributions.

The Waywayseecappo First Nation is a First Nations band government whose reserve is located twenty miles east of Russell, Manitoba, Canada. The First Nation's reserve is 10,059 hectare and is located near the southwestern corner of the Riding Mountain National Park. It is bordered by the Rural Municipality of Rossburn and the Rural Municipality of Silver Creek. The First Nation also hold interest together with 32 other First Nations on the 37.1 hectare Treaty Four Reserve Grounds , located adjacent to Fort Qu'Appelle. Its population was 1,219 in 2011. They are home of the MJHL team Waywayseecappo Wolverines. There are several businesses located in the Birdtail valley near PTH 45, such as a gas station, food mart, gaming centre, health centre, daycare, and community arena complex. As of April 1, 2014, the RCMP is no longer in the community, being replaced by the Manitoba First Nations Police Service.

They are part of the Manitoba Escarpment, which was the shoreline of the ancient glacial Lake Agassiz. The hills are located north-west of Swan River, Manitoba, and are the headwaters of the Swan River. The highest elevation in the Porcupine Hills is Hart Mountain, at an elevation of 823 metres (2,700 ft), which makes it Manitoba's second-highest point. The Porcupine Provincial Forest surrounds the area.

The Swan River Valley is a valley between the Manitoba Escarpment in the Parkland Region of Manitoba, Canada. It is located between the Porcupine Hills to the northwest and Duck Mountains to the south, as well as Thunderhill to the west and Lake Winnipegosis to the east.
Manitoba's Swan-Pelican Provincial Forest lies just west of Lake Winnipegosis, and is named for the two smaller lakes in the area, Swan Lake and Pelican Lake. The forest has an area of 3,705 km2, and is the second-largest provincial forest in Manitoba. Most of the forest is located within the unorganized portion of Census Division No. 19, but its southernmost reaches extend into the Rural Municipality of Mountain (South). A fairly newly established forest, it was not officially recognized as a provincial forest until 1987.
Cowan Bog Ecological Reserve is an ecological reserve located northeast of the Duck Mountain Provincial Forest, Manitoba, Canada. It was established in 1983 under the Manitoba Ecological Reserves Act. It is 5.18 square kilometres (2.00 sq mi) in size.
