The Roman Curia comprises the administrative institutions of the Holy See and the central body through which the affairs of the Roman Catholic Church are conducted. The Roman Curia is the institution which the Roman Pontiff ordinarily makes use of in the exercise of his supreme pastoral office and universal mission in the world:thus curialism refers traditionally to an emphasis on the supreme authority of the Holy See within the Catholic Church. It is at the service of the Pope and bishops,fulfilling their function with an evangelical spirit,working for the good and at the service of communion,unity and edification of the Universal Church and attending to the demands of the world in which the Church is called to fulfill its duty and mission.
The Dicastery for Bishops,formerly named Congregation for Bishops,is the department of the Roman Curia of the Catholic Church that oversees the selection of most new bishops. Its proposals require papal approval to take effect,but are usually followed. The Dicastery also schedules the visits at five-year intervals that bishops are required to make to Rome,when they meet with the pope and various departments of the Curia. It also manages the formation of new dioceses. It is one of the more influential Dicasteries,since it strongly influences the human resources policy of the church.

Baltazar Enrique Porras Cardozo is a Venezuelan prelate of the Catholic Church,who was named Metropolitan Archbishop of Caracas in 2023 after serving as apostolic administrator there for four and a half years. He was auxiliary bishop of Mérida from 1983 to 1991 and then metropolitan archbishop of Mérida from 1991 to 2023. Pope Francis made him a cardinal in 2016.

The Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors is a pontifical commission within the Roman Curia of the Catholic Church instituted by Pope Francis on 22 March 2014 as an advisory agency serving the pope. Since 5 June 2022,the Commission has been part of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith,operating with its officials and according to its norms.
The Dicastery for Communication is a division (dicastery) of the Roman Curia with authority over all communication offices of the Holy See and the Vatican City State. Its various offices can be accessed through its website. These are the Pope's website and other offices such as Vatican News on internet,the Holy See Press Office,L'Osservatore Romano,Photograph Service,Vatican Radio,Vatican Press,and the Vatican Publishing House. The Pontifical Council for Social Communications has been subsumed into this new Dicastery.
The Dicastery for the Laity,Family and Life is a dicastery of the Roman Curia. Pope Francis announced its creation on 15 August 2016,effective 1 September 2016. It took over the functions and responsibilities of the Pontifical Council for the Laity and the Pontifical Council for the Family. It has responsibility "for the promotion of the life and apostolate of the lay faithful,for the pastoral care of the family and its mission according to God's plan and for the protection and support of human life."
Michael F. Czerny is a Czechoslovakian-born Canadian Catholic prelate who has served as prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development since 2022. He was under secretary of the dicastery's Migrants and Refugees Section from 2017 to 2022. Pope Francis made him a cardinal in 2019.
Praedicate evangelium is an apostolic constitution reforming the Roman Curia and was published and promulgated on 19 March 2022 by Pope Francis;the document took effect on 5 June 2022.
Simona BrambillaISMC is an Italian Roman Catholic nun and missionary who led the women's branch of the Consolata Missionaries from 2011 to 2023 and became the first female secretary of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in October 2023,making her one of the highest-ranking women in the Roman Curia.

In 2016 she became the first woman to serve as Vice Director of the Holy See Press Office. Since her resignation from her Vatican position in December 2018,she works as a television reporter for Trece in the United Kingdom.
Raffaella Petrini,FSE is an Italian Catholic religious sister who has served as Secretary General of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State since 2021. She is the first woman to hold the position and one of the highest-ranking officials at the Vatican. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist.
