Culver City Unified School District, abbreviated CCUSD, is a school district located in Culver City, California that serves approximately 6,500 pupils in a variety of schools.
The Culver City Unified School District primarily consists of five K-5 elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. It also includes an alternative high school, an independent study school, an adult school and a preschool program.
The interim district superintendent is Steven Keller. [1]
One elementary school, El Marino Language School, has both a Spanish and Japanese language immersion program. It is a blue-ribbon school in the US, with top students coming from it every year. Unlike the other four elementary schools in the district, El Marino does not have a neighborhood attendance area. Instead, admission is based on a lottery system in compliance with the California Education Code. [2]

Ballona Creek is an 8.5-mile (13.7 km) channelized stream in southwestern Los Angeles County, California, United States, that was once a "year-round river lined with sycamores and willows". The urban watercourse begins in the Mid-City neighborhood of Los Angeles, flows through Culver City and Del Rey, and passes the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Preserve, the sailboat harbor Marina del Rey, and the small beachside community of Playa del Rey before draining into Santa Monica Bay. The Ballona Creek drainage basin carries water from the Santa Monica Mountains on the north, from the Baldwin Hills to the south, and as far as the Harbor Freeway (I-110) to the east.
