Cyril Jackson Senior Campus is an Independent Public senior secondary school in Bassendean, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It serves approximately 400 compulsory age and mature age students from Year 11 to Year 12.
The surrounding area saw a large growth in population in the 1950s with the creation of a public housing estate in Ashfield. The school was established in 1961 or 1962 as a standard public secondary school, but only officially opened in 1964. It was named Cyril Jackson Senior High School, after Cyril Jackson, the inspector-general of schools in Western Australia in the 1890s. [2] It was designed by Silver Fairbrother and Associates architects. [3] It was renamed to its current name in c. 1993. [4]
Cyril Jackson Senior Campus has students from Year 11 to Year 12. It is one of two schools in Western Australia that offers secondary education to adult students, although it also has school-aged students. It accepts enrolments from all over Western Australia. It offers ATAR, General, Foundation, and Certificate level courses. [5] [6]
Cyril Jackson Senior Campus has a university-style environment, unique among Western Australian schools, with no uniform, no bell times, and teachers referred to by their first names. Among the types of students enrolled at Cyril Jackson are formerly homeschooled people who need a location to complete ATAR courses and VET certificates, or students who do not fit in at regular schools. [5]
In 2011 and 2012, Governor Stirling Senior High School Year 11 and 12 students were co-located at Cyril Jackson Senior Campus whilst that school was being redeveloped. [7] [8]

Ellenbrook is a northeastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, about 30 km (19 mi) from Perth's central business district (CBD), located within the City of Swan. Ellenbrook, and its neighbouring suburbs of The Vines and Aveley, are unusual for Perth in being a significant distance from neighbouring suburbs. Given this relative isolation and the distance from the CBD, Ellenbrook has been designed and developed as a self-sustainable community. Since the upgrade of Gnangara Road and the completion of the Tonkin Highway Northlink, access to Ellenbrook has improved. The Morley–Ellenbrook railway line is well underway as at June 2021 and this will enable better public transport. At the time of the 2016 census there were 22,681 people living in the gazetted suburb, by June 2018, it was estimated that the urban population for Ellenbrook and surrounds had grown to 41,382. It is envisioned that Ellenbrook will eventually become a satellite city, with a population of 80,000.
The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) is the credential awarded to students who have completed senior secondary education in the state of Western Australia. It is the Western Australian graduation certificate of the Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education. Students are required to meet various breadth and depth requirements, achievement standards and literacy and numeracy standards across their final years of schooling. As of the 2020 WACE, there are 106 courses available for students to study. Many WACE students are awarded an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), summarising their results across all areas of study into one ranking for the purposes of university admission. Students may choose from ATAR courses, which count directly towards their ATAR, Vocational Education and Training courses, which are more practical courses and can lead to further vocational opportunities, and, from 2021, General courses, which provide pathways to university, employment, or further vocational education and training. From 2010, the WACE replaced the Tertiary Entrance Exam (TEE), as the standard academic examination for school leavers in Western Australia.
