Early life and high school

Ponds attended high school at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School located in Hollywood, Florida. Coming out of high school, Ponds was rated as a three star recruit, where he committed to play college football for the James Madison Dukes. [1] [2]

College career

James Madison

During Ponds true freshman season in 2023, he appeared in all 13 games with ten starts for the Dukes, where he totaled 51 tackles, 13 pass deflections, two interceptions, and a touchdown. [3] For his performance during his true freshman season, Ponds was named second team all Sun-Belt, while also being named a freshman all-American. [4] [5] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Ponds decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal. [6] [7]

Indiana

Ponds decided to transfer to play for the Indiana Hoosiers. [8] [9] In week nine of the 2024 season, Ponds notched two interceptions one of which he returned for a touchdown, as he helped the Hoosiers to a win over the Eastern Michigan. [10] For his performance versus the Huskies, he was named the Big Ten's defensive player of the week. [11]
