Cedar Springs is located near the Ohio's border with Indiana east of the city of Richmond, Indiana along Interstate 70 and U.S. Routes 35 and 40.
Dadsville has its start in 1898 when the Dayton & Western Electric Line was extended to that point. [2] The community was named for John "Daddy" Baker, an early settler. [2]

The county was formed on February 15, 1808, from portions of Butler and Montgomery Counties. It is named for Edward Preble, a naval officer who fought in the American Revolutionary War and against the Barbary Pirates.
