Campbellstown (also Florence, Florence Station) is an unincorporated community in Jackson Township, Preble County, Ohio United States. The community is served by National Trail High School and the National Trail Local School District. [1]

Jackson Township is one of the twelve townships of Preble County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 1,223 people in the township. The Jackson community is served by National Trail High School and the National Trail Local School District. Interstate 70 runs along the northern part of the township.

National Trail High School is a public high school in New Paris, Ohio. It is the only high school in the National Trail Local School district. The district serves students from New Paris Ohio, Eldorado, Ohio, and West Manchester, Ohio, along with all of Jefferson Township, Monroe Township, and Jackson Township, near Eaton, Ohio.

History

Campbellstown was originally called Florence Station, and under the latter name was laid out in 1852 when the railroad was extended to that point. [2] The present name honors a pioneer settler with the surname Campbell. [3] A post office called Campbellstown was established in 1854, and remained in operation until 1954. [4]

Don Elston American baseball player

Donald Ray (Don) Elston was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Chicago Cubs and Brooklyn Dodgers (1957). Elston batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Campbellstown, Ohio.
