Dailyn Lamont Swain (born July 15, 2005) is an American college basketball player for the Xavier Musketeers of the Big East Conference.

Early life and high school

Swain attended Columbus Africentric Early College in Columbus, OH. He started on the team since his freshman season. He is the team's all-time leading scorer with 1,509 points and is one of three in program history to reach the 1,000 point milestone. Swain piled up the accolades, including two consecutive Division III district Player of the Year honors and being named first-team all-state. He finished fourth in the voting for Mr. Basketball. [1] Swain also played for the varsity tennis team for his final two seasons. [2]

Swain played on the EYBL circuit, averaging 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.1 steals for the All Ohio Red program. [3]

College career

On September 2, 2022, Swain announced at a packed ceremony that he had committed to Xavier University. He also had offers from Arizona State University, University of Arkansas, Clemson University and Ohio State University. [4]

Swain was one of three 4-star recruits to sign a national letter of intent to Xavier University. He was part of the 2023 recruiting class. [5]

On March 6, 2024, Swain was sidelined idefinitely after undergoing a successful appendectomy. [6]

On March 10, 2024, the Big East Conference announced that three Xavier student athletes had earned postseason All-Big East honors. Swain earned Big East All-Freshman Team. His freshman year Swain led all of the six Xavier freshman in minutes at 18.9 per game before having his season shut down. Swain tied for third on the team in steals at 1.03 steals per game. He tied his career high for rebounds with six in two of his last three games. [7]

On July 1, 2024, Swain was cleared for all basketball-related activities. [8]

Personal life

Swain is the son of Constance Addrece and Dean Swain. He has three brothers: Dallas, Damarco, and Deno. He also has a sister named Daelah. [9]
