Dales Green is a hamlet [1] in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England. [2] The hamlet lies between the villages of The Rookery, Mow Cop and Harriseahead, forming a continuous urban area. [3]
It lies close to the county boundaries of Cheshire-Staffordshire and not far from the towns of Kidsgrove, Biddulph and Congleton.
Dales Green is first mentioned as being part of the parish of Wolstanton. [4] [5] However, it later became part of the Kidsgrove parish. [6]
The hamlet saw some developments occur around it with coal mines and collieries on the nearby Biddulph Valley and Potteries Loop Lines. These have both since closed.
The hamlet was recorded as a village during this time, but is now mostly a hamlet due to it lacking any local amenities.
There are regular bus services that pass through the hamlet connecting it to Biddulph, Kidsgrove, Alsager, Congleton and Audley. [7]
The nearest active rail station is Kidsgrove. The area was also served by railway stations at Mow Cop and Scholar Green, Black Bull and Kidsgrove Liverpool Road. These have all since closed.
