Daniel Dean Pembroke MBE (born 16 July 1991 [1] ) is a British athlete who specialises in the Javelin throw.
As a junior athlete, he competed for Great Britain and Northern Ireland in three age-group championships. His highest placing was 11th in the javelin at the 2011 IAAF World U20 Championships in Moncton, Canada. An elbow injury ended his chances of qualifying for the Olympic Games in 2012, so he took a break from the sport until 2019. [2]
He was diagnosed with RP (Retinitis pigmentosa) when he was six and his eyesight became further impaired during his twenties. [3]
In 2021 he accepted a place on the British Paralympic World Class Programme (WCP). [4] He went on to win Gold in the T13 javelin throw at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo. In doing so he threw a new Paralympic record of 69.52 meters with his third attempt. [5]
Pembroke was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours for services to athletics. [6] [7]
At the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships, he won the gold medal in the T13 Javelin Throw, with a throw of 70.50 metres. [8]
At the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships, he won the gold medal in the T13 Javelin with a throw of 66.96 metres. [9]
At the 2024 Summer Paralympics, Dan retained his Paralympic title with a throw of 74.49 metres which was a new world record in that class. [10] [11]

Stephen James Miller MBE is a British athlete who competes in the fields of Paralympic club and discus throwing. He has won three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in the F32/51 club throw at the Paralympics. In Paralympic F32/51 discus he won one bronze medal.
Jason Smyth is an Irish retired sprint runner. He competes in the T13 disability sport classification as he is legally blind, with his central vision being affected by Stargardt's disease; he also competes in elite non-Paralympic competition. As of July 2014, Smyth holds T13 World records in the 100m and 200m events.
Nathan Stephens is a Welsh former Paralympian athlete competing mainly in category F57–58 throwing events. He was until September 2012 the world record holder in the F57 javelin throw.
Hannah Lucy Cockroft is a British wheelchair racer specialising in sprint distances in the T34 classification and TV presenter.
Hollie Beth Arnold, is a British parasport athlete competing in category F46 javelin. Although born in Grimsby, she now lives and trains in Loughborough. She represents Wales in the Commonwealth Games.
Aled Siôn Davies is a British Paralympian athlete competing mainly in category F42 throwing events. In 2012 he became the world record holder of the F42 shot put and in the 2012 Summer Paralympics he took the bronze medal in shot put and gold in the discus. In 2013 Davies took the World Championship gold in both the shot put and discus in Lyon. He won double gold in his home country at the 2014 IPC Athletics European Championships in the shot put and discus. This followed his silver medal in the F42-44 discus from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where he represented Wales. Davies also took part in the Channel 4 TV series Celebrity SAS: Who dares wins
Olivia Breen is a Welsh Paralympian athlete, who competes for Wales and Great Britain mainly in T38 sprint and F38 long jump events. She qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics and was selected for the T38 100m and 200m sprint and was also part of the T35-38 women's relay team. She has also represented Wales at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games winning gold in the F38 Long Jump in 2018 and gold in the T37/38 100m in 2022.
Sophie Megan Hahn, is a parasport athlete from England competing mainly in T38 sprint events. In 2013, she qualified for the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships, selected for the T38 100m and 200m. She took the gold in the 100m sprint, setting a new world record.
Claudiney Batista dos Santos is a Brazilian Paralympian athlete competing in category F57/T57 throwing events. He won a silver medal in the javelin throw at the 2012 Paralympics and a gold medal in the discus throw at the 2016 Rio Games.
Jayden Sawyer is an Australian para athlete who competes mainly in the F38 category in throwing events. He won has won gold and bronze medals at the World Para Athletics Championships. He competed at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Summer Paralympics.
Zac Shaw is a British Paralympic visually impaired sprinter who competes in the T12 classification. At the age of nine he became afflicted with stargardt disease. He made his first Great Britain squad for the IPC Athletics World Championships in 2015. Shaw made the Great Britain squad for the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris after just missing out on both the 2016 Summer Paralympics and 2020 Summer Paralympics.
Jaryd Clifford is an Australian Paralympic, vision impaired, middle-distance athlete. He represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics in athletics. He won gold medals in the Men's 1500m and 5000m T13 events at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships. Clifford represented Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, where he won silver medals in the Men's 5000m T13 and Men's Marathon T12, and a bronze medal in the Men's 1500 m T13. He competed at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Rinku Hooda is an Indian para javelin thrower who competes in the F46 category. He represented India at the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris, his second Olympics and finished at 5th spot with the best throw of 61.58 metres.
Zak Skinner is a British Paralympic athlete, who competes in the 100m and long jump in the T13 classification.
Michal Burian is a Czech-born Australian Paralympic javelin thrower. He won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Two years later, he secured another silver medal at the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships. In both competitions, his achievements were clinched during the final round with a clutch throw, proving Burian's ability to perform under pressure.

The men's javelin throw events at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris took place between 30 August and 7 September 2024. Eight events were held, all by way of direct final, and 68 athletes took part across all eight events.
