Dancemania X1, a.k.a. Dancemania 11, is the eleventh set in the Dancemania series of dance music compilation albums, released in 1999 by EMI Music Japan. [2]
The album debuted at #4 on Oricon's weekly album chart in January 1999, [4] reached #2 in February 1999, [5] and appeared on the yearly best-selling album chart at #77 in 1999 with 304,710 copies sold, along with several other Dancemania albums such as Speed 2 being #72 and Delux 3 being #88. [6]
Several tracks on the album, including different remixes, can also be found on other Dancemania albums such as Disco Groove, Delux 3, Delux 4, Diamond, Diamond Complete Edition, Best Yellow, Best Red, Zip Mania II, Zip Mania Best, Fura Mania, Speed 2, Speed 3, Speed 7, Speed Best 2001 or Happy Paradise. E-Rotic are an Eurodance duo act formed in 1994 by German record producer David Brandes. The act is best known in Europe for the hits "Max Don't Have Sex With Your Ex" and "Fred Come to Bed". E-Rotic originally consisted of German born singer Lyane Leigh and American rapper Richard Allen Smith. The act is known for its extensive use of sexual themes in their songs and music videos.
Smile.dk or Smile is a Swedish Eurodance group with Veronica Almqvist as the only current member. The band is known for many songs featured in music video games, such as Dance Dance Revolution. They have regularly appeared on Dancemania since its tenth issue. Smile.dk has been one of the most featured acts in the Dancemania series, along with the likes of Captain Jack and E-Rotic.
Linnéa Handberg Lund, also known as Papaya and Miss Papaya, is a Danish musician. She has achieved Gold and Platinum status as a songwriter within Europe and Asia in the 2000s after her two albums released as an independent artist.
Dancemania is a series of remix compilation albums by i-DANCE. The series deals primarily with dance music, especially Eurodance. Despite many of its tracks being made by various musicians from all over the world and mainly from the European continent, the albums have been released exclusively in Japan.
Bus Stop was a British dance act made up of Darren Sampson, alongside Graham Turner, Mark Hall and Nikki Reid (Lane). The group was formed in 1998 and had a string of hit singles before disbanding in 2002. Main vocalist, Sampson, went on to represent the UK in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest.
"The Love Bug", stylised as "the Love Bug", is a song recorded by Japanese hip-hop duo M-Flo for their third studio album, Astromantic (2004). It was written, arranged, and produced by Verbal and Taku Takahashi who compose the duo and features South Korean singer BoA as the accompanying vocalist. It was released on March 17, 2004, and was distributed by Rhythm Zone in two physical formats: a standard CD single and a limited edition vinyl. In its bass line, the song samples "Give Me Your Love" (1981) by American jazz vocalist Sylvia Striplin. Following its release, "The Love Bug" peaked at number eight on the Oricon Singles Chart and sold over 56,000 copies.
Future Girls is the second album by Swedish Eurodance group Smile.dk, released in 2000. The song "Dancing All Alone" was featured in the video game Dance Dance Revolution 5thMIX. Tracks from this album are featured on several Dancemania megamix albums, including Dancemania X7, X8Hyper Delux, and Delux 5.
Prime -S.E.S. The Best- is the first Japanese compilation album by S.E.S., released under VAP on March 15, 2000. It spawned two singles: "T.O.P. " and the double A-side single "Sign of Love" / "Miracle". The album peaked at number 64 on the Oricon Albums Chart and sold 3,750 copies.
Dancemania Speed is a sub-series of Toshiba EMI's Dancemania compilation series. This series features faster, further remixed versions of recordings from previously released Dancemania albums or faster remixed covers of various famous songs. Unlike the main series mostly consisting of Eurodance, this series largely consists of hardcore techno crews from the UK, the home of happy hardcore, and some Eurobeat Italians who are very much experienced in high BPM dance music.
Kurtis Campbell, better known as DJ Kambel, is a British electronic music DJ. While DJing in the UK happy hardcore scene, he composed many works for the mega-hit compilation Dancemania's Speed series, which made him one of the most frequently appearing artists on the series along with the likes of CJ Crew, Captain Jack, Bus Stop, E-Rotic and Smile.dk.
