It was released as the soundtrack for the Blaxploitation film of the same name. Widely considered a classic of 1970s soul and funk music, Super Fly was a nearly immediate hit. Its sales were bolstered by two million-selling singles, "Freddie's Dead" and the title track. Super Fly is one of the few soundtracks to out-gross the film it accompanied.

Behind The Beats, Vol. 1 is the eighth independent release by American producer/rapper Danny!. It is a promotional disc consisting of snippets from twenty self-produced songs from his own discography, directly followed by a snippet from its original musical source. Behind The Beats, Vol. 1 was compiled and mixed by Danny himself, with a format akin to that of fellow producer Ski Beatz's own 2007 compilation disc entitled Beatz, Rhymes & Samples.

Like Vol. 1 before it, the album cover for Behind The Beats, Vol. 2 depicts beets being prepared for consumption, presumably a play on the homonymous title. Both installments of Behind The Beats were mixed and compiled by Danny himself, and are both extremely hard to find due to a limited number of copies being pressed.
And I Love H.E.R.: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, also referred to as simply And I Love H.E.R., is MC/producer Danny!'s full-length follow-up to 2006's Charm and the second in a series of concept albums. The record was released to universal acclaim, cited by ABC News and L.A. Weekly as one of the best releases of 2008. And I Love H.E.R. was expected to be released on January 22, but was postponed until June 24 for various reasons. Around the time of its original projected release date a promotional poster surfaced on URB Magazine's website, revealing Tanya Morgan's Von Pea, Brooklyn MC Che Grand and Kidz in the Hall's Naledge as the "film"'s "co-stars".

Where Is Danny? was originally titled Project X, but the name was changed shortly before its release. The record—marketed primarily as a lo-fi "anti-album"—is a milestone in Danny!'s career, as it is his twelfth release yet only his first for Interscope Records after being signed to the label for a little more than half a year.

The project features production by Juicy J, The Alchemist and Flying Lotus. Lyrically the record deals with thoughts about self-reflection, the contemplation of death, and a struggle with drugs. The EP received mostly positive reviews from music critics.

The Diary is the sixth and final studio album by American hip hop recording artist J Dilla. It was originally intended for release in 2002 via MCA Records under the title Pay Jay. This long-lost album is the final batch of unissued material that J Dilla had assembled for release during his lifetime. It also represents his first rap album released since Ruff Draft (2003) and Champion Sound (2003). Unlike previous full-length releases – from Jay Stay Paid (2009) to Dillatronic (2015) – all edited with unreleased instrumentals, The Diary is a collection of Dilla's vocal performances over his production and that of other producers, such as Madlib, Pete Rock, Nottz, Hi-Tek and Karriem Riggins among others. It also features vocal performances by Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Kokane, Frank n Dank, Nottz, Kenny Wray and Boogie. Recording sessions for the album took place from September 16, 2001, to April 2, 2002, at The Spaceship in Clinton Township and Studio A in Detroit, and it was mastered by Dave Cooley at Elysian Masters in Los Angeles.
