De Wacht is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland and is part of the municipality Hoeksche Waard. The village lies next to the Dordtse Kil.

De Wacht is not a statistical entity, [1] and considered part of 's-Gravendeel. It has place name signs, and consists of about 25 houses. [2]

Stephan van den Berg is a retired windsurfer from the Netherlands. He was a reigning world champion between 1980 and 1983 and during 1984 Summer Olympics, Long beach, California won the first Olympic Gold medal in the Windglider for the Netherlands. After that he turned professional and therefore missed the 1988 Olympics. He returned to amateurs to compete at the 1992 Olympics, Barcelona where he finished in seventh place in the Men's Lechner A-390.

Since the Netherlands did boycott the Moscow Olympic Games Neeleman represented his National Olympic Committee at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Tallinn, USSR under the Dutch NOC flag. Neeleman took 8th place in the 1980 Summer Olympics, which was boycotted by several countries. In 1984 Summer Olympics, Los Angeles Neeleman did a second attempt in the Finn and finished on the 9th place. Neeleman missed the selection for the 1988 Olympics, Pusan.

SMS <i>Wacht</i> Aviso of the German Imperial Navy

SMS Wacht was an aviso of the Imperial German Navy, the lead ship of her class. She had one sister ship, Jagd. Wacht was built by the AG Weser shipyard; she was laid down in 1886, launched in August 1887, and commissioned in August 1888. She served in the active fleet through the 1890s and participated in numerous training exercises. Her career was cut short on 4 September 1901, when she collided with the old ironclad SMS Sachsen. The latter's ram bow holed Wacht under the waterline and caused her to rapidly sink. Her crew was safely rescued, however, and there were no casualties.

Hans Boudewijn Binkhorst was a Dutch sailor who represented his country at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Acapulco. Binkhorst, on the Dutch Finn, took the 19th place. Since in 1980 The Netherlands did boycott the Moscow Olympic Games Binkhorst in the Star represented his National Olympic Committee under the Dutch NOC flag. With crew member Kobus Vandenberg. They took 6th place. The last Olympic appearance of Binkhorst was during the 1984 Olympics again in the Star and this time with crew Willem van Walt Meijer. They took 8th place.

The Flemish Guard was a collaborationist paramilitary formation which served as an auxiliary police in parts of German-occupied Belgium during World War II. It was founded as an independent formation in May 1941 at the initiative of the Union of Flemish Veterans and the Flemish National League. Both associated with the pre-war Flemish Movement, the VNV soon emerged as the largest collaborationist faction in Flanders during the occupation. In propaganda, the Flemish Guard was depicted as the police force of a future independent Flanders. It was distinct from the Flemish Legion, formed by the VNV in July 1941, to participate in the German invasion of the Soviet Union.

Berthold von Bernstorff

Berthold Hartwig Arthur, Graf von Bernstorff was a German politician, forester and landowner. He served in the Reichstag from 1893 until 1907. In 1893, he bought the Dutch island of Schiermonnikoog.
