Glamorgan County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Glamorgan. Founded in 1888,Glamorgan held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship before the First World War. In 1921,the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to first-class status,subsequently playing in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England and Wales.
Glamorgan County Cricket Club started their 2005 season as defending totesport League champions,but the 2005 season ended without a trophy –instead,they suffered relegation in the first-class form. They played their first-class cricket in the First Division of the County Championship. They started the Championship season at 25–1 to win,and favourites to be relegated –which they eventually were,winning one of sixteen games in the Championship season to finish bottom –nearly 100 points behind the first team to avoid relegation. By the end of August,they had confirmed relegation with three games remaining. In the National League,they hovered around mid-table for most of the season,before a run of three unbeaten games at the end of August sent them out of the relegation zone,and they finished the season in fourth place. In the C&G Trophy,they were knocked out at the second round stage by eventual champions Hampshire,while the Twenty20 campaign saw them finish bottom of their group with two wins from eight matches.
Cricketers from Wales are currently represented by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and compete for the England cricket team. There have been some historical instances of a separate Welsh team in the 1920–30s,in the 1979 ICC Trophy,and in the British Isles Championship between 1993 and 2001,however Wales is not a separate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

James Cullum Tredwell is an English former international cricketer. A left-handed batsman and a right-arm off break bowler,he played his domestic cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and was appointed as County Captain for the 2013 season. He made his debut for Kent in the 2001 season,nine days before his first appearance for England Under-19s. He often fielded at slip. Tredwell was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.

The Australian cricket team toured England in the 1977 season to play five Test matches for the 1977 Ashes series against England. The Australians also played three one day internationals and 19 other tour matches.
The New Zealand cricket team toured England in the 1937 season. The team was the third from New Zealand to tour England,following those of 1927 and 1931,and the second to play Test matches. Three Tests were arranged:England won the second match at Manchester,and the games at Lord's and The Oval were drawn,the latter affected by rain. On the tour as a whole,the New Zealanders played 32 first-class matches,winning nine and losing nine,with 14 ending as draws.
Craig Kieswetter is an English professional golfer and former cricketer who appeared in 71 matches for the England cricket team between 2010 and 2013. Born and raised in South Africa,Kieswetter moved to England to complete his education,and began playing county cricket for Somerset in 2007. Three years later,he made his international debut in a One Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh. A wicket-keeper batsman,he was considered a one-day specialist,and all his international appearances came in ODIs or Twenty20 Internationals.

All cricket within Wales is regulated by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB),making it effectively part of the English cricket system. Glamorgan County Cricket Club is Wales' only first-class county team,and Welsh players are eligible to represent England as Wales does not currently have its own Test cricket team or cricket body. Cricket is played within the Welsh schools system,and is considered one of the country's main summer sports.

Hugh Robert Bernard is an English former professional cricketer who has played for Kent County Cricket Club. He is a right-arm medium-fast pace bowler and a right-handed batsman. Bernard is a graduate of the Kent Cricket Academy and has featured in Kent's Second XI since 2014 as well as playing club cricket for Folkestone. In June 2015,Bernard signed his first professional contract with Kent. He made his first-class debut on 1 May 2016 against Glamorgan.
