Maria Deanna Izabella Alvizo Wong (born July 18, 1998) is a Filipino professional volleyball athlete. Wong was a member of the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Blue Eagles, the school's women's varsity volleyball team from 2016 to 2020. During Season 80 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 2018, she won the Best Setter Award.
While being a part of the team, Ateneo was the UAAP runner-up in 2016 and 2017, won bronze in 2018, and became the champions in 2019. The team, in partnership with Motolite, also reached the finals in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference in 2018.
In June 2020, she was signed by the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
She studied at the Saint Theresa's College of Cebu in elementary and attended the University of San Jose–Recoletos for high school. [3] In college, she took up AB Interdisciplinary Studies at the Ateneo de Manila University. [4]
Wong was previously in a relationship with former Adamson Lady Falcons and Creamline Cool Smashers player Jema Galanza. [5] She is currently in a relationship with former NU Lady Bulldogs and Akari Chargers Opposite Spiker Ivy Lacsina. [6]
She first started playing indoor volleyball in her sixth grade intramural upon her best friend's invitation [4] and continued to play the sport in high school. [7] She then was invited for a three-week training at the San Sebastian College-Recoletos and the Ateneo de Manila University.
By March 2015, she was picked as member of the collegiate varsity women's volleyball team of the Ateneo de Manila University, under then head coach Anusorn "Tai" Bundit [8] and became a rookie in the 2016 UAAP Season 78. She played as a libero in 2017 Season 79 and then as setter the next year for 2018 Season 80, [9] during which she was awarded the Best Setter award. [10] While the team settled for bronze in the previous season, [11] the Ateneo Lady Eagles won the championship for UAAP Season 81 in 2019. [12]
Wong took a hiatus from playing for Ateneo for Season 82. She was set to return in UAAP Season 83 which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wong was still eligible to compete in UAAP Season 84 [13] but chose to play for the Premier Volleyball League. [14]
Wong played in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference with Ateneo de Manila University, in partnership with Motolite, and the team reached the finals but were defeated by the Creamline Cool Smashers. [15] In 2021, Wong played in Season 4 Open Conference with Choco Mucho Flying Titans, the team owned by Republic Biscuit Corporation.
Wong was also part of the Philippine women's national team which competed as the club side, Team Choco Mucho at the 2021 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship. [16] [17]
Wong is also part of Philippines women's national volleyball team and she was supposed to play in SEA Games 2021 in Quang Ninh, Vietnam.
On October 2, 2018, she was one of the nominees for Push Sports Personality of the Year. [18]
Alyssa Caymo Valdez is a Filipino volleyball player who currently plays for the Creamline Cool Smashers. She was a member of the collegiate varsity women's volleyball team of Ateneo de Manila University in both indoor and beach volleyball. She was most outstanding as an indoor volleyball player where she brought multiple championship titles and a lot of honor for the university. She is a current member of Philippines national team. Her global recognition paved the way for her to play in other countries like Thailand for 3BB Nakornnont and Taiwan for Attack Line Volleyball Club.
Michele Theresa Imperial Gumabao is a Filipino volleyball player and beauty pageant titleholder. She is currently signed to the Creamline Cool Smashers of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), and has previously played for teams in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL). She was named "Best opposite spiker" seven times in her professional career and was the Finals MVP in the 2016 Shakey's V-League Reinforced Conference.
Jamenea "Jem" Ferrer is a Filipina volleyball player. She was a 3-time UAAP best setter awardee while playing for the Ateneo university Lady Eagles volleyball team. She was a member of Fab 5 together with Dzi Gervacio, Fille Cainglet–Cayetano, Gretchen Ho and A Nacachi.
Dennise Michelle "Denden" Garcia Lazaro-Revilla is a Filipina professional volleyball player. Lazaro is a member of the Philippines women's national volleyball team. She is known as the libero and Ateneo Lady Eagles' Iron Eagle.
Julia Melissa "Jia" Morado-De Guzman is a Filipino volleyball player. She was a member of the Ateneo Lady Eagles and was team's captain in the UAAP Season 79 Women's Volleyball tournament. From 2015, Jia has been a constant member of the Philippines Women's National Volleyball Team.
Cherry Ann Quipanes Rondina, popularly known as Sisi Rondina, is a Filipino indoor and beach volleyball player. She is currently playing for the Choco Mucho Flying Titans at the Premier Volleyball League.
Desirée Wynea Cheng is a Filipino volleyball athlete. She played with De La Salle University collegiate women's varsity volleyball team.
Jessica Margarett "Jema" Casidsid Galanza is a Filipina volleyball player and former captain of the Adamson Soaring Lady Falcons volleyball team in the UAAP and a National Team Member. She also played for the Laoag Power Smashers during the 2016 SVL Reinforced Conference and has become one of the top spikers for the Creamline Cool Smashers since 2017 in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
