Debadrita Basu is a Bengali TV and Theatre actress. [1] Although her career started with stage plays, she is best known for playing the lead roles of Joyee in the serial Joyee, Alo in the serial Alo Chhaya, both of these aired on Zee Bangla and Rajkumari Meera / Meerabai in the mythological serial Shree Krishna Bhakto Meera on Star Jalsha, [2] and Alo in the serial Alor Theekana on Sun Bangla.

Early life

Basu was born in Chakdaha, West Bengal to Sanjay and Shukla Basu. She has a younger sister, Debopriya, who is also an actress. Basu's acting career started with the theater group Ha Za Ba Ra La at age 8. While studying at school, Basu started the theatre practice with her father. [3] Drohi Choitonnya was her first theater drama. She had an opportunity through auditioning to work on TV serials.

Career

Basu played the lead role of the serial Joyee on the Bengali channel Zee Bangla in Calcutta. [4]

She also played Alo Sengupta, the titular protagonist in the soap opera Alo Chhaya .

She was last seen as Meerabai in the mythological drama Shree Krishna Bhakto Meera on Star Jalsha which unexpectedly stopped airing due to low popularity of the show.

Since 2022, she has been playing Alo, the main protagonist in the daily soap, Alor Theekana on Sun Bangla. [5]

Joyee is a Bengali television soap opera that premiered on 9 October 2017. It aired on Zee Bangla. It was produced by Tent Cinema and it starred Debadrita Basu and Dibyojyoti Dutta. It also presents Sanchari Mondal, Mimi Dutta, Tanuka Chatterjee, and Dwaipayan Das in supporting roles. The show replaced Raadha. Arun Bandyopadhyay is the main antagonist. The show went off air on 1 September 2019 and it was replaced by another show titled Alo Chhaya.

Payel De, also known as Payel Dey, is a Bengali actress. She began her career in 2006 with Zee Bangla's Ekdin Pratidin daily soap and portrayed the character Chandrayee as a supporting role. Alo Chhaya was an Indian Bengali television soap opera which premiered on 2 September 2019 as a replacement of the popular daily soap Joyee and aired on Bengali General Entertainment Channel Zee Bangla and all old episodes are also available on the digital platform ZEE5. The series was produced by Susanta Das under the banner of Tent Cinema. It starred Debadrita Basu, Oindrila Bose, and Arnab Banerjee in lead role. The show went off air on 9 April 2021 due to low trp ratings.
