Debjani Modak (pronounced [d-ai-bj-aa-n-eemo-dak] ) (born 20 March 1996) is an Indian film and Television actress who predominantly works in Bengali films and Television and worked in Tamil, Telugu Tele Serials. She is known for playing Rasaathi in Rasaathi [2] and Dr. Pandithaaradhyula Vedashwini in Ennenno Janmala Bandham .

Early life

Debjani Modak was born into a Bengali Hindu family. Her father is a businessman while her mother is a homemaker. Until class V, she did her schooling at St. Johns Diocesan Girls' Higher Secondary School, before moving to the St Anthony's School (Girls) boarding school in Kurseong. She completed her XII'th standard (commerce stream) at B.D.M International in Kolkata, West Bengal. She couldn't continue her studies further as she stepped into acting career at a very young age, but she took a correspondence course for BA English (Hons). [3] [4]

Early career

In 2012, Debjani initially started shooting for a Bengali TV serial, but the project got shelved and later on, one of the assistant directors who worked for this serial referred her to the film director Rajib Chatterjee.[ citation needed ][ relevant? ]. [5] She made her debut in films with Knockout (2013). [6]

She worked in two other Bengali films before stepping into Bengali TV serials.[ relevant? ] [7] [8] [9]

Television career

In 2015, she made her television debut in the Bengali serial Aponjon [10] on Colors Bangla.

In 2020, she made her Tamil television debut in the serial Rasaathi , on Sun TV.[ citation needed ] [11] [12] She also started playing the role of Sandhiya in Vanathai Pola .[ citation needed ] [13]


In 2021, she made her Telugu debut in the serial Ennenno Janmala Bandham , which aired on Star Maa.[ citation needed ] [14] [15]

In April 2023, Modak quit Vanathai Pola . [16] [17]

Modak's first language is Bengali and she is fluent in Hindi, English. She can manage Telugu and a bit of Tamil. [3] [4]

Rimjhim Mitra is a Bengali television and film actress. In 2010, she participated in a Bengali dance reality show. In 2013, she was the winner of season one of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Bangla, shown on ETV Bangla. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2019. Presently, she is working as Disha in Zee Bangla's Krishnakoli and Babli in Star Jalsha's Titli.

<i>Kiranmala</i> Bengali television serial

Kiranmala was an Indian Bengali language television series which aired on Star Jalsha from 4 August 2014 to 19 November 2016. It was produced by Surinder Films and starred Rooqma Ray, Farhan Imroze and Chandrayee Ghosh. It was based on traditional folktales as collected in Thakurmar Jhuli by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumder. It was produced by Shibaji Panja and stars Debjani Modak, Subhranshi Suranjana Roy, Moumita Chakraborty, Rumpa Chatterjee and Anamika Chakraborty in main roles and also stars Siddhartha Banerjee, Bharat Kaul, Biswajit Chakraborty and Fahim Mirza in supporting roles.

Debadrita Basu is a Bengali TV and Theatre actress. Although her career started with stage plays, she is best known for playing the lead roles of Joyee in the serial Joyee, Alo in the serial Alo Chhaya, both of these aired on Zee Bangla and Rajkumari Meera / Meerabai in the mythological serial Shree Krishna Bhakto Meera on Star Jalsha,and Alo in the serial Alor Theekana on Sun Bangla.

Payel De, also known as Payel Dey, is a Bengali actress. She began her career in 2006 with Zee Bangla's Ekdin Pratidin daily soap and portrayed the character Chandrayee as a supporting role. She is known for her work in television soap opera serials Durga and Behula where she played the title character, both of these aired on Star Jalsha. She started her career while she was studying in college. Afterwards, she starred as Aalo Moitra in the TV serial Bodhu Kon Alo Laaglo Chokhe which aired on Star Jaisha. She has also played lead characters in Maa Durga, Tobu Mone Rekho, Ardhangini, Jaahanara, Durga Durgeshwari, Chuni Panna and currently Desher Maati.

<i>Rasaathi</i> 2019 Tamil-language TV series

Rasaathi is a 2019-2020 Tamil-language television series starring Pavani Reddy in the title role. Whilst Devayani, Baladitya and Vichithra in the supporting roles and was directed by Jawahar. The show premiered on 23 September 2019 in Sun TV and ended on 3 April 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Pavni Reddy also known as Pavani is an Indian actress who predominantly appears in Telugu and Tamil films. She acted in a supporting role in the Tamil film Thunivu (2023) opposing actor Ajith Kumar. In 2021, she was a contestant on the reality series Bigg Boss 5 Tamil and finished as the 2nd runner up. She is also known for playing the lead in the Tamil-language television series Chinna Thambi.

Debottam Majumdar is a Bengali television actor. He started his career in acting by performing in Bengali soap opera series Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti. He is well known for playing the male lead role of Shona babu as the protagonist in Keya Patar Nouko.

The main plot of the series was taken from Bengali language Zee Bangla's series Trinayani, which aired on 4 March 2019 to 26 July 2020.
