Star Suvarna is an Indian Kannada language general entertainment pay television channel operated by JioStar, a subsidiary of Disney India. It primarily telecast programmes such as serials, reality shows & Kannada films.

History

It was launched on 17 June 2007 by Jupiter Entertainment Venture (JEV) as Asianet Suvarna owned by Asianet Communications Limited. [1]

Star Suvarna is also the first channel in India to give importance to Tulu language programming during the year 2010 despite the channel being known for Kannada language programming. [2]

In 2013, Star India acquired Asianet Communications excluding the news channels from their parent company. [3] Suvarna Plus was launched on 14 August 2013. [4] On 25 July 2016, the channel was rebranded as Star Suvarna along with its sister channel Star Suvarna Plus. [5] [6]

Star Suvarna launched its own high-definition simulcast, with HD visuals and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 sound quality on 15 July 2017. [7] [8]

Hara Hara Mahadeva is a Kannada mythological television series based on legends of Lord Shiva, also known as Mahadeva. It aired on Star Suvarna beginning 25 July 2016. Star Suvarna, the fourth-largest Kannada channel in India, funded the serial with the largest regional market budget of Rs.60 crore. It is an official remake of the Hindi television series Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev. It has several nominations for the Suvarna Film Awards. Ajay Devgan said it was a "visual treat" and had many untold stories of Lord Mahadeva. This big budget serial is based on the work by Devdutt Pattanaik. It has aired over 300 episodes and Karthik Parak, head of regional branch programming at Star Suvarna planned to extend it to 500 episodes.

Sangeetha Sringeri is an Indian actress and model who primarily works in the Kannada industry. She Became popular for her role Sati in the Kannada daily soap Hara Hara Mahadeva. She also acted as a lead in successful movies like 777 charlie and Lucky man .she finished as one of the finalists at the Femina Miss India beauty pageant in 2014 and was runner-up at the world supermodel pageant. In 2023, she appeared in Kannada reality show Bigg Boss Kannada as a contestant and emerged as a 2nd runner up.

<i>Janakiyudeyum Abhiyudeyum Veedu</i> 2024 Indian Malayalam TV series

Janakiyudeyum Abhiyudeyum Veedu is an Indian Malayalam-language soap opera directed by Niju Soman. It is an official remake of the Hindi soap opera Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. It stars Raneesha, Raksha Raj and Arathy Sojan in lead roles. The show premiered on 17 June 2024 on Asianet and OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar. The series was launched along with Santhwanam 2.
