Deborah "Debbie" Allan (born 21 July 1975) is a former British judoka. [1] She won three European Championship medals, including a gold at the 1999 European Judo Championships. Allan was scheduled to compete at the 2000 Summer Olympics, but was disqualified at the weigh-in for being over the weight limit.
Allan is from Camberley, Surrey, England, and trained at the Camberley Judo Club. [2] [3] In 1993, she became champion of Great Britain, winning the featherweight division at the British Judo Championships. [4] The following year in 1994, she won a bronze medal at the 1994 European Judo Championships [1] and retained her British title. [4] Also in 1994, she was involved in a row with coach Mark Earle, which led to him being temporarily suspended by British Judo. [5]
In 1995, she won her third consecutive British featherweight title. [4] Her next major success came when she won a silver medal at the 1998 European Judo Championships before winning the gold medal at the 1999 European Judo Championships, in the gold medal match she defeated Paula Saldanha. [3] [6]
Allan qualified for the under 52kg event at the 2000 Summer Olympics, but was 400 grams (0.88 lb) over the weight limit at the weigh-in. Her coach Diane Bell cut Allan's hair and made her stand naked on the weighing scales. Allan was still 100 grams (0.22 lb) above the weight limit, and so was disqualified from the event. [7] [8] She was banned by the British Judo selection panel for six months, although this was later overturned on appeal. [9]

Dibora Monick Olga "Deborah" Gravenstijn is a Dutch judoka and Captain in the Royal Netherlands Air Force. She won a bronze medal in the class Women's 57 kg at the 2004 Summer Olympics and a silver medal four years later at the same event at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Karina Bryant is a British retired elite judoka, who was active in elite senior competition in the 2000's and early 2010's. She represented Great Britain at four successive Olympics between 2000 and 2012, winning her first Olympic medal, a bronze, in the heavyweight event at her final Games, the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She was a seven-time medallist at both the European Judo Championships and the World Judo Championships, and was European Champion on four occasions.
Rafaela Lopes Silva is a Brazilian judoka. She won gold medals at the World Judo Championships of 2013 and 2022 and at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the –57 kg weight division. Currently, she occupies the graduation third sergeant in the Navy of Brazil and integrates the Center of Physical Education Admiral Nunes (CEFAN), the Military Sports Department.
Alice Schlesinger is an Israeli-British retired judoka and sambo competitor. Born in Israel, she competed for that country until 2014, but following a dispute with the national federation she has started competing for Great Britain, of whom she is a citizen through her English-born mother.
Karen Valerie Briggs MBE is a retired British judoka. Internationally active throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Briggs was a multiple World (four-time) and European (five-time) champion, represented Great Britain at the 1992 Olympic Games, and won gold for England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. She is a member of the IJF Hall of Fame, and recognised as one of the most successful British and female judoka of all time.

Rachel Wilding is an English judoka, who competed in the women's half-heavyweight category. She picked up a total of thirty-one medals in her career, and represented Great Britain in the 78-kg class at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Throughout most of her sporting career, Wilding trained for the Camberley Judo Club in Camberley under her personal coach and sensei Mark Earle.
Elina Vavailagi Nasaudrodro is a Fijian judoka who competed in the women's lightweight category. She won a bronze medal in the 57-kg division at the 2004 Oceania Judo Championships in Noumea, New Caledonia, and represented her nation Fiji at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens at the age of eighteen.
Shira Rishony is an Israeli Olympic lightweight judoka. She competed at U48 kg. She competed for Israel at the 2016 Summer Olympics and at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Diane Bell is a British former judoka. She won the 56–61 kg event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, but at the time women's judo was then still a demonstration sport, so unlike the men Bell did not enter the list of Olympic medalists in judo. Arina Kachan is a Belarusian judoka, who has been ranked number one in the world in the women's + 70 kg weight class. She has won multiple medals for her country at the IBSA World Games, IBSA European Judo Championships and the IBSA World Judo Championships.
Timna Nelson-Levy is an Israeli judoka. She competes in the under 57 kg weight category, and won a bronze medal in the 2016 European Judo Championships. She competed for Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Gefen Primo is an Israeli judoka. She competes in the under 52 kg weight category, and won bronze medals in the 2021 World Judo Championships, 2018 European Judo Championships and 2021 European Judo Championships.
Samantha Lowe is an English judoka who won a gold medal in the women's under 70 kg event at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
The British Judo Championships are held annually and feature various age and weight categories to determine the British champion. The Championships are currently held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield.
