The British Judo Championships are held annually and feature various age and weight categories to determine the British champion. [1] The Championships are currently held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. [2]

Until 2013, the Championships were held under the title of either the British Closed Championships or the British Senior Trials. In 2013, the British Closed Championships/Senior Trials were merged with the all-age British Championships. The 2020 Championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [3] [4]

Dorothy Edith Round, was a British tennis player who was active from the late 1920s until 1950. She achieved her major successes in the 1930s. The English Institute of Sport is a multi-sport facility in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The facility designed by FaulknerBrowns Architects was opened in December 2003 at a cost of £24 million. Its main feature is a 200m indoor track, but it also hosts several other sporting arenas as well as a large gym and extensive sports medicine facilities. It is in the Lower Don Valley between the Sheffield Arena and Don Valley Bowl. It is managed by SIV.

The British Rowing Championships usually take place every year and are normally held at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont (Nottingham), with occasional championships held at the Strathclyde Country Park. The championships originally incorporated Senior and Junior crews but since 2013 have been held separately. However, since 2018 the senior championships have not been held. It is a major event for club rowers and schools and events are held for open, women, open junior, women's junior, under 23, lightweight, adaptive and coastal boats.

Samuel Leonard King was an English professional golfer, best known for playing on three Ryder Cup teams.

Kerrith Brown is a retired judoka from the United Kingdom and President of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).

The British National Team Pursuit Championships are held annually as part of the British National Track Championships organized by British Cycling. Prior to 1996, there were two separate team pursuit championship events for amateur and professional riders. A women's championship was later added, competing over a shorter 3 km distance with three riders, until 2013 when this was increased to 4 km with 4 riders as in the men's event.

She competed for Scotland at women's 70 kg judo event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where she won a bronze medal.

Georgina Singleton is an English judoka who competed in the women's half-lightweight category.

Elina Vavailagi Nasaudrodro is a Fijian judoka who competed in the women's lightweight category. She won a bronze medal in the 57-kg division at the 2004 Oceania Judo Championships in Noumea, New Caledonia, and represented her nation Fiji at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens at the age of eighteen.

Elvis Gordon was a Jamaican-born English heavyweight judoka who won numerous medals representing Great Britain. He competed for Great Britain at the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Olympic games. Gordon won silver in the 1987 World Judo Championships, was European champion in 1988, and Commonwealth champion in 1986 and 1990. He retired from competitive judo in 1993, and subsequently competed at the 1994 Sumo World Championships as a wrestler in the heavyweight category. In 2009, he made a brief return to judo, winning silver at the 2009 British Masters Championship in the men's 50–54 years over-100 kg category.

Diane Bell is a British former judoka. She won the 56–61 kg event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, but at the time women's judo was then still a demonstration sport, so unlike the men Bell did not enter the list of Olympic medalists in judo. She also won two World Judo Championships, a Commonwealth Games gold and three European Judo Championships.

The British National Individual Pursuit Championships are held annually as part of the British National Track Championships organised by British Cycling. A women's championship was held for the first time in 1960.

The 1971 British National Track Championships were a series of track cycling competitions held during the summer of 1971.

The British Isles Bowls Championships is a tournament held between the champions of their respective nations, from England, Scotland, Wales, a combined Ireland, and more recently Guernsey and Jersey. It was first held in 1960 although the triples event did not start until 1977.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 World Judo Championships</span> Judo competition

The 2022 World Judo Championships was held at the Humo Ice Dome in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 6 to 13 October 2022 as part of the IJF World Tour and during the 2024 Summer Olympics qualification period, concluding with the mixed team event on its final day.

The 1951 European Judo Championships were the 1st edition of the European Judo Championships, and were held in Paris, France, from 5 to 6 December 1951.

Malin Wilson is a Scottish international judoka. She has represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games and won a bronze medal.
