Densign White MBE (born 21 December 1961) is a male retired British judoka. White competed at the 1984, 1988 and the 1992 Summer Olympics. [1]
White won the first of his nine British titles after winning the light-middleweight division at the British Judo Championships in 1980. He stepped up in weight the following year to claim a second title and then completed three in a row when reverting back to -78kg in 1982. [2] After settling at middleweight, he won a fourth title in 1983 before he was selected to represent Great Britain at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He competed in the men's 86 kg division, where he reached the quarter final and repechage final but lost to Walter Carmona in the bronze medal play off. [1] In 1986, he won the silver medal in the 86kg weight category at the judo demonstration sport event as part of the 1986 Commonwealth Games. [3]
A fifth and sixth British title in 1985 and 1987 [2] was followed by a bronze medal at the 1987 World Judo Championships and a silver medal at the 1987 European Judo Championships. [4] In 1988, he won British title number seven [2] and repeated his success at the 1988 European Championships in Pamplona by winning another silver medal. [4] It was also during 1988 that he went to his second Olympic Games, competing in the men's -86kg class and once again just failed to secure a medal after losing in the repechage final. [1]
He won an eighth British title in 1989 and secure a bronze medal at the 1990 European Judo Championships in Frankfurt. [4] He also represented England and won a gold medal in the 86kg middleweight category, at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand. [5] [6] In 1989 he won his ninth and final British title before represting Great Britain for a third time at the Olympic Games. In Barcelona, he competed in the men's 86kg category, failing to progress from Pool A. It was his last major championships and ended a very successful career.
White is married to Tessa Sanderson. [1] He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2020 Birthday Honours for services to diversity in sport as chair of Sporting Equals. [7]
Kate Louise Howey is a former elite British judoka. She remains the only British woman to have won two Olympic judo medals and shares with fellow Olympic medalist Karina Bryant the record of being the only British judoka to have competed at four Olympic Games.
Rasul Boqiev is a Tajikistani judoka who competes in the –73 kg (lightweight) category. He has won bronze medal at the Judo World Championships and a bronze medal, Tajikistan's first ever Olympic medal, at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

He won the silver medal at the 1979 Pan American Games in the lightweight division. He also won the bronze medal at the 1981 World Championships in the Half Middleweight division (78 kg). In 1986, he won the bronze medal in the 86kg weight category at the judo demonstration sport event as part of the 1986 Commonwealth Games.

Gisèle Mendy is a Senegalese judoka, who played for the middleweight category. She won three medals for her division at the African Judo Championships. She also captured a silver medal in the same division at the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria, losing out to Algeria's Rachida Ouerdane.
Mohamed El Assri is a Moroccan judoka, who played for the middleweight category. He won a total of five medals for his division at the African Judo Championships. He also captured a silver medal in the 66 kg class at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Italy, losing out to Greece's Ilias Iliadis.
Lee Bok-hee is a South Korean judoka, who competed in the women's half-middleweight category. She won fourteen medals in her career, including a silver in the 2001 East Asian Games in Osaka, Japan, achieved fifth-place finishes at the 2003 World Judo Championships, and represented her nation South Korea in the 63-kg class at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Elvis Gordon was a Jamaican-born English heavyweight judoka who won numerous medals representing Great Britain. He competed for Great Britain at the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Olympic games. Gordon won silver in the 1987 World Judo Championships, was European champion in 1988, and Commonwealth champion in 1986 and 1990. He retired from competitive judo in 1993, and subsequently competed at the 1994 Sumo World Championships as a wrestler in the heavyweight category. In 2009, he made a brief return to judo, winning silver at the 2009 British Masters Championship in the men's 50–54 years over-100 kg category.
Diane Bell is a British former judoka. She won the 56–61 kg event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, but at the time women's judo was then still a demonstration sport, so unlike the men Bell did not enter the list of Olympic medalists in judo. She also won two World Judo Championships, a Commonwealth Games gold and three European Judo Championships.
Rowena Sweatman is a British judoka. She competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics.
