Rowena Sweatman (born 10 February 1968) is a British judoka. [1] She competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics. [2]
In 1986, she won the bronze medal in the 66kg weight category at the judo demonstration sport event as part of the 1986 Commonwealth Games. [3] Sweatman became champion of Great Britain, winning the middleweight division at the British Judo Championships in 1988. [4]
In 1994, she became the European champion at the 1994 European Judo Championships in Gdańsk, where she won the gold medal in the -66kg category. [1] The following year she won a bronze medal at the 1995 European Judo Championships, in Birmingham. [1]
In 1996, she was selected to represent Great Britain at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She competed in the women's middleweight event, reaching the quarter finals before losing to Aneta Szczepańska. [2] The following year in 1997, she claimed a second British title, but this time at the heavier weight class of half-heavyweight (-78kg). [4]
Kate Louise Howey is a former elite British judoka. She remains the only British woman to have won two Olympic judo medals and shares with fellow Olympic medalist Karina Bryant the record of being the only British judoka to have competed at four Olympic Games.

Elvis Gordon was a Jamaican-born English heavyweight judoka who won numerous medals representing Great Britain. He competed for Great Britain at the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Olympic games. Gordon won silver in the 1987 World Judo Championships, was European champion in 1988, and Commonwealth champion in 1986 and 1990. He retired from competitive judo in 1993, and subsequently competed at the 1994 Sumo World Championships as a wrestler in the heavyweight category. In 2009, he made a brief return to judo, winning silver at the 2009 British Masters Championship in the men's 50–54 years over-100 kg category.
Diane Bell is a British former judoka. She won the 56–61 kg event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, but at the time women's judo was then still a demonstration sport, so unlike the men Bell did not enter the list of Olympic medalists in judo. She also won two World Judo Championships, a Commonwealth Games gold and three European Judo Championships.
