Edith Bosch (born 31 May 1980) is a Dutch judoka.

Her Olympic debut was at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney where she finished seventh. She won the silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the middleweight division. She was also European champion that year. Bosch became world champion in the same 70 kg category at the 2005 World Judo Championships in Cairo, Egypt. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, she defeated Ronda Rousey in a quarter final match and won a bronze medal. In the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she once again won the bronze medal.

Bosch has a HEAO (Dutch : Hoger economisch en administratief onderwijs) diploma in commercial economy from Randstad Topsport Academy, she is also a master in Sport Management from Johan Cruyff Institute, [1] and currently works as a team manager for the Nederlandse Spoorwegen. [2]

During the 2012 Summer Olympics, Bosch was watching the final of the Men's 100 metres when a man threw a plastic bottle onto the track. Bosch punched the man, and he was detained by stewards. [3] [4] [5]

Bosch retired from competitive judo in April 2013. [6] She subsequently took up CrossFit. [7]

In 2013, she appeared on Dutch reality TV programme Expeditie Robinson 2013 , which she won. [8] She lost 16 kilograms (35 lb) over the programme's month of production. [7]

She is a five-time World Cup champion, and a silver medalist at the 2008 European Judo Championships in Lisbon, Portugal. She also won two bronze medals for the same division at the 1999 Summer Universiade in Palma de Mallorca, and at the 2003 Summer Universiade in Jeju City, South Korea.

Rachida Ouerdane is an Algerian judoka, who competed in the middleweight category. She is a three-time champion at the African Judo Championships, and a two-time medalist at the Mediterranean Games. She also won a gold medal in the same division at the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algiers.

Miesha Tate vs. Ronda Rousey was a series of mixed martial arts bouts booked by Strikeforce and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In 2011, the fighters began a rivalry via social media and a series of interviews, with Rousey expressing an interest in fighting Tate for Tate's Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Championship. As the feud garnered increased attention from fans and the press, Tate and Rousey were ultimately chosen to headline a Strikeforce show on March 3, 2012. This marked a rare occurrence of women being placed in the main event of a mixed martial arts (MMA) card.
