Debra L. Bogen is an American pediatrician and public health official who is the secretary of health of Pennsylvania.
Bogen earned a B.A. in chemistry,cum laude,from the Columbia University in 1985. [1] She completed a M.D. at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1992. [2] From 1992 to 1995,she completed a pediatric residency and general academic pediatrics fellowship at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. [3] [1] Bogen conducted postdoctoral research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine from 1996 to 1998. [1] She became a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1992. She joined the American Pediatric Society in 1996. [1] In 2004,she became a fellow of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. [1]
Bogen is an advocate for maternal and child health issues. [4] She is one of the founders of the Mid-Atlantic Mother's Milk Bank. [4] At the University of Pittsburgh,Bogen held a primary academic appointment as a professor of pediatrics and secondary appointments in psychiatry and clinical and translational science. [5] She was vice chair for education at the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh's pediatric department. [2] In March 2020,she succeeded Karen Hacker as director of the Allegheny County Health Department. [2]
In January 2023,she was nominated by governor-elect Josh Shapiro to serve as the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health. [3] Her nomination was withdrawn on June 27. [6]
Antonia Coello Novello is a Puerto Rican physician and public health administrator. She was a vice admiral in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and served as 14th Surgeon General of the United States from 1990 to 1993. Novello was the first woman and first Hispanic to serve as Surgeon General. Novello also served as Commissioner of Health for the State of New York from 1999 to 2006. Novello has received numerous awards including more than fifty honorary degrees,was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2000,and has been inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame. Her memoir,Duty Calls:Lessons Learned from an Unexpected Life of Service,was published in 2024.

Allegheny Health Network (AHN),based in Pittsburgh,is a non-profit,14-hospital academic medical system with facilities located in Western Pennsylvania and one hospital in Western New York. AHN was formed in 2013 when Highmark Inc.,a Pennsylvania-based Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance carrier,purchased the assets of the West Penn Allegheny Health System and added three more hospitals to its provider division. Allegheny Health Network was formed to act as the parent company to the WPAHS hospitals and its affiliate hospitals. Highmark Health today serves as the ultimate parent of AHN.

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP),popularly known simply as Children's,is part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the only hospital in Greater Pittsburgh dedicated solely to the care of infants,children,teens and young adults through around age 26. UPMC Children's also sometimes treats older adults that require pediatric care. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and features a state-verified level 1 pediatric trauma center,one of four in the state. CHP also has a rooftop helipad for emergent transport of pediatric patients.

Marie Clare McCormick is an American pediatrician and Sumner and Esther Feldberg Professor of Maternal and Child Health in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston,Massachusetts. She also holds an appointment as professor of pediatrics in the Harvard Medical School. In addition,she is the senior associate for academic affairs in the department of neonatology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Her research primarily focused on epidemiology and health services,particularly in relation to infant mortality and the outcomes of very low birthweight (VLBW) and otherwise high-risk neonates.
Austin Davis is an American politician who is the 35th lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania,since 2023. Prior to that,he served as a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives,representing the 35th District from 2018 to 2022. State Attorney General Josh Shapiro defeated State Senator Doug Mastriano by 14.8 percentage points to succeed term-limited incumbent governor Tom Wolf (D). Primaries were held on May 17,2022. Shapiro won the Democratic nomination after running unopposed and Mastriano won the Republican nomination with 44% of the vote. Mastriano's nomination drew attention due to his far-right political views.
