Defenestration are a UK nu metal band, based in Northamptonshire. The band were originally active between 1999 - 2004 and reunited for a number of shows in 2024.
In their short career Defenestration played over 300 shows across the UK and Europe, gigging & touring with the likes of Raging Speedhorn, Will Haven, Lostprophets, Napalm Death, Earthtone9, Stampin' Ground, Biffy Clyro, The Wildhearts, Alkaline Trio, Mendeed, Gutworm, Queenadreena, Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction, Skindred, Orange Goblin, Atomic Bitchwax, Spunge, Therapy? [2] and Megadeth. Career highlights included the band's shows at the 2001 Reading and Leeds Festivals [3] as well as opening the Wembley Arena leg of the 2001 'Tattoo The Planet Tour' whose line-up also boasted such acts as Cradle of Filth, Biohazard and Slayer. Throughout 2001 the band's debut album 'One Inch God' received much attention and praise in the British music media with reviews and features appearing in magazines such as Kerrang! , Metal Hammer , Rock Sound , NME , Revolver and Q. As a result, the band were nominated in the 'Best New Band In Britain' category at the 2001 Kerrang! Awards, narrowly losing out to Lostprophets. The band received regular radio airtime, being played on XFM, Total Rock Radio, the Mary Anne Hobbs' BBC Radio 1 Rock Show and the John Peel show. Live sessions were recorded for BBC Radio 1 and London-based Total Rock Radio.
Defenestration received music TV coverage with their Stitch and Away or Dead music videos being rotated on MTV2 and Kerrang! TV. They were also the subject of an MTV2 Riot documentary that followed the band as they embarked on a short tour of schools and universities – the first Metal band to do so.
2002 saw the release of a split e.p with fellow Kettering sludge band Scurge, as well as a UK headline tour and support shows with Will Haven.
The band's second album, Ray Zero, was released on October 13, 2003 and supported by a UK tour, as well as dates in Malta, with Maltese metal band Slit. [5]
Defenestration released their final recording 'For Us It Ends When We Drown', a 6 track 'mini-album' in 2004, before disbanding.
In early 2024 it was announced that the band would reunite for their first live performance in 20 years. The gig, supporting Raging Speedhorn, was to raise money for record producer Russ Russell who was unable to work due to illness. [6] The band, who originally pre-dated social media, created Instagram and Facebook accounts to promote the gig and document the band's history. [7]

Lostprophets were a Welsh rock band from Pontypridd, formed in 1997 by singer Ian Watkins and guitarist Lee Gaze. The group was founded after their former band Fleshbind broke up. They later recruited Mike Lewis on guitars, Stuart Richardson on bass and Mike Chiplin on drums.

Hell Is for Heroes are an English post-hardcore band from London. Founder members Will McGonagle and Joe Birch were joined by James Findlay, Tom O'Donoghue and later Justin Schlosberg. The band played their formative shows in West London throughout 2001.
Enter Shikari are a British rock band formed in St Albans in 1999 by bassist Chris Batten, lead vocalist and keyboardist Rou Reynolds, and drummer Rob Rolfe. In 2003, guitarist Rory Clewlow joined the band to complete its current line-up, and it adopted its current name. In 2006, they performed to a growing fanbase at Download Festival as well as a sold-out concert at the London Astoria. Their debut studio album, Take to the Skies, was released in 2007 and reached number 4 in the Official UK Album Chart, and has since been certified gold in the UK. Their second, Common Dreads, was released in 2009 and debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number 16; while their third, A Flash Flood of Colour, was released in 2012 and debuted on the chart at number 4. Both have since been certified silver in the UK. The band spent a considerable amount of time supporting the latter release through the A Flash Flood of Colour World Tour, before beginning work on a fourth studio album, The Mindsweep, which was released in 2015. Their fifth studio album The Spark was released in 2017. Their sixth album Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible was released in April 2020. Their seventh and latest album, A Kiss for the Whole World, was released on 21 April 2023 which gave them their first-ever No. 1 album.
Raging Speedhorn are a British extreme metal band formed in Corby, Northamptonshire in 1998.
Mendeed was a Scottish heavy metal band formed in Dumbarton, in 2000 and disbanded in 2007.

The band referred to themselves simply as 'new wave'. Haunts' line-up consisted of Banks, Alex Woodcock, Gareth Grover and Mitch Mitchener. Haunts disbanded in 2009.

The Betrayed is the fourth studio album by Welsh rock band Lostprophets, released through Visible Noise and Sony Music on 13 January 2010. Although the band initially wished to record a quick follow-up to 2006's Liberation Transmission, problems with labels and producers led to numerous delays. Consequently, tracks from the album were performed live as early as 2007, but recording was not completed until July 2009, following an entire album's worth of material being scrapped by the band.
Young Guns are an English alternative rock band from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The members, working with each other in various musical interests throughout the 2000s, formally formed the band in 2008, and rose to prominence after their debut EP, Mirrors, earned them spots opening live shows for Bon Jovi and Guns N' Roses. Their debut album, All Our Kings Are Dead, on 12 July 2010. Their second album, Bones, was released in February 2012. Their single "Bones" reached no. 1 on the Billboard Active Rock charts in the US in May 2013. Their third album, Ones and Zeros, was released on 9 June 2015. The band's fourth album, Echoes, was released on 16 September 2016.
Rise to Remain was an English, London-based heavy metal band formed in 2006 and disbanded in 2015. The band made appearances at Download Festival, Sonisphere Festival and extensively toured the UK and Europe. The band released three EPs, the majority of which were "viral" releases, via their MySpace. On 16 March 2011 they signed their first major recording contract with EMI records, which was accompanied by the launch of their website and a free single download entitled "The Serpent". Their debut album, City of Vultures, was released on 5 September 2011, nearly a year after they had started work on recording the album. It was produced by revered metal producer Colin Richardson and Carl Bown. In 2014, the band released a new single entitled "Over and Over", which would be their last musical release.
Weapons is the fifth and final studio album by the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. It was released through Epic Records on 2 April 2012. It was the first and only record featuring Luke Johnson on drums, after being with two other drummers previously, Mike Chiplin and Ilan Rubin. This was the last album to ever be released by the band before lead vocalist Ian Watkins was convicted of numerous sex offences, which led to their disbandment.
The Blackout are a Welsh post-hardcore band from Merthyr Tydfil, formed in 2003. In 2007, the band released their debut album, We Are the Dynamite. Their second record, The Best in Town, was released in 2009. The band's third album, Hope, was released in 2011 and charted at number 27 in the UK album chart. Their fourth studio album, Start the Party, was released in 2013. The Blackout's final release was a five-track EP entitled Wolves, with their farewell tour held in early 2015, finishing in their hometown of Merthyr Tydfil in March 2015.
